With the world in thermal, why would I worry about the college sports landscape changing. There has been changing over time from the beginning. Remember the SEC segregation. With all the speculation about some ACC teams wanting to join the SEC or B10 & trying to find a way out of the GOR, ect.,
how confident (or worried) are you about your future?
It all depends upon our new media rights deal. We are on better footing with the coming of 4 quality new comers since Mad Cow & Boomer are leaving. They will expand our footprint into Ohio & Florida. BYU is a smaller ND.How secure or concerned are you for K-State these days?![]()
What would (most likely) be your prez & BOT decisions if Dabo was coaching @ PJFS & you can pull (another) Maryland?Dabo doesn’t have a say. The prez and BOT make the call when it comes to business decisions. The $ discrepancy isn’t just annoying to Clemson. It’s annoying to all ACC teams.
All these moves. All these changes. They are killing the sport. It was dying beforehand. Joe Schmo the fan, who puts every ounce of time, energy, and support into it, it’s not hard to see the turnoff. So much greed.I think there's a real question about whether college football will hold the interest of fans at schools that are left behind. There are fans in the Big 12 that spent their whole lives circling Oklahoma and Texas on their schedules every year. That was their big rivalry game. Now who do they circle? Oklahoma State? Baylor?
They won't really feel all this for a few years until the teams actually move out of the PAC-12 and Big 12.
I think there's a growing apathy for many reasons. If those fans tune out it'll be very difficult if not impossible to get them back.
Simple answer to ACC- win.Dabo doesn’t have a say. The prez and BOT make the call when it comes to business decisions. The $ discrepancy isn’t just annoying to Clemson. It’s annoying to all ACC teams.
I like home playoff games, too- just like FCS- it works fine. I don’t understand the attraction to bowl games. I guess it’s just that they are mostly ESPN properties. But there are too many, and a lot of players are skipping them now.I don’t think it is killing the sport but they maybe killing attendance. When teams are 6-6 more people watch at home than live. People start checking out after 1-2 losses today. The season is effectively over for most of the fans. If your team is alive for the national title attendance will stay pretty good.
This why I love the 16 team playoff. We talk about attendance on here. You know they are doing the same at the higher levels. The longer you can keep any fanbase engaged the better. No team or program is immune from attendance drop if that team is 6-6 or eliminated from title contention. By expanding to 16 they could keep up to 30 teams engaged a 3rd of the season. Today it is 6-8.
Top 8 you get a home playoff game. It just makes too much sense to expand the playoff. I liked 12 but love 16.
The ACC's Grant of Rights is good till the 2035-2036 season. No teams from the ACC are going to be poached, because of this. The ACC teams will not make the money that SEC and Big 10 will bring, but the ACC is a solid 3rd conference. Stay the course. With all the speculation about some ACC teams wanting to join the SEC or B10 & trying to find a way out of the GOR, ect.,

Totally agree. And I don't see how a lot of these games remain profitable. The main sponsor is huge, but oftentimes you see like 15-20K people at a lot of these games. Watered down with a bunch of teams most could care less about!I like home playoff games, too- just like FCS- it works fine. I don’t understand the attraction to bowl games.
