Allows us to get ahead of everyone else in the ACC. Boeheim, K, Williams, Larranaga, will all be gone soon. While those programs rebuild, we will have already rebuilt and have our foot on the gas.

Although the situation sucked, getting Mack or another great coach at this time will help us in the long run. In a few years we could be running the ACC with Virginia while everyone else is down having to rebuild with new coaches and platforms.

We will have already done that.

I agree about the Syracuse and Miami jobs, but Carolina and Duke are primo jobs, they shouldn’t have any problems hiring a good/great coach.

Here's an interesting point: 30 programs are going to hit with violations. It's reasonable to speculate that several of the coaches leading them are going to be fired if the violations are blatant. Elite coaches are always in short supply, but we are looking at a situation where "very good" or "might be good" coaches are going to be in short supply. Something to think about when considering timing.

They can say that but I will believe it when I see it. The NCAA has proven they most likely corrupt or at best completely subjective in terms of who and how they dish out punishment to. When I see teams like Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas get hammered then I will believe this report. We have already seen how the NCAA spent years inventing an excuse for why they could not punish North Carolina in the biggest academic fraud case ever.

They won't have any problems. However, year 1 and year 2 is usually a bit different/difficult for a coach under a new program. We should be past that by that time.

If it's that widespread, the NCAA and its checkered history might not be around to play judge-and-jury...

That is an interesting take, which has me thinking.

When everything hits the fan, would those big name schools, in an effort to save face as well as provide talking points to their supporters, declare that this current corrupt state is actually the result of the NCAA trying to impose order and not the fault of the individual schools? That is to say, everyone does it because this organization, the NCAA, created the atmosphere and culture that, not only allowed rule breaking to flourish, but forced the hands of these schools to participate in this culture so they could remain active and competitive as well as provide needed assistance to the student athletes.

They could use that line of reasoning to either abolish the NCAA or separate themselves from it and form their own athletic organization.

And here's another thing - if it's that widespread, it is in the NCAA's interest to let all those "late offenders" slide. Otherwise you're going to have a tournament full of no-names with Loyola-Chaminade vs Robert Morris in the Final Four and no one is going to give a shit. People love to watch the Cinderella teams, but they need some names to play against and for March Madness fans to cheer against. That's the thing that bothers me. March Madness is when the acronym "NCAA" is on the mouths of every person in America.

Hell, ol Brucie Pearl had to sit out 5 years for blatant in the NCAA's face recruiting violations but look at him now....has an Assistant Coach possibly going to jail and he's Top 10 now. The whole ball of wax is a freaking joke except it's not funny. Go Spring football, women's b-ball, baseball and yes, men's b-ball!
