He 'stole' our Title opportunity in 83' final four game.
UofL had a run going, he threw his towel on the court , and no technical was
assessed. I might be embellishing on that.

Cards ran out of gas in the 2nd half against Phi Slamma jamma.

UH lost in the title game against NC State. Then lost in the next championship
game, a year later to Georgetown.

The Hall of famer was 93. RIP Coach Lewis.

NTM Elvin Hayes and Don Chaney. He basically built the UH program from scratch and was one of the pioneers in integrating BB in the south.

Great coach! I wouldn't go as far to say he stole our title in 83, but I would say one was stole from him and the Houston Cougars by NC State. That semi game in the 83 final four was played a foot above the rim for 40 minutes. It was a track meet!

I like to think the Cards wore down Houston just enough to allow NC State to pull off one of the biggest upsets in tourney history!

Rest in eternal peace coach! You will be missed but never forgot.

I still remember Billy T missing a wide open dunk on a breakaway in that game which was costly for us.
