The Adidas exexs were convicted in NY federal court today. This is good news for UofL. It means the jury bought the government argument the schools were victims. Also means other trials will go on and, more importantly, FBI investigation will continue. NCAA has to wait and if more schools are implicated it will make it harder for NCAA to hammer just one or a couple of schools.

Yes. It’s also important that the ruling explicitly states the schools were victims. That would fly in the face of NCAA punishment to punish schools named in this particular case. Great news and now the focus moves to other schools and their potential involvement in rules infractions.

I still dont get how we get in trouble. There isnt any proof that we knew money was exxhanged. Bowen never played for us and no boosters gave him money just adidas.

If it was just Louisville we would be in a world of hurt. Assistant coach on tape noting that the payment to Bowen had to be handled carefully because UofL was already under NCAA scrutiny for the stripper scandal. That’s lack of institutional control.
But if many name schools have coaching personnel assisting shoe companies making payments then NCAA has tough decision. Hammer everyone and impact the amount of money coming in. Can you imagine tournament revenues where the Final 4 consists of no name schools? Or make some rule changes and claim to have fixed the problem. When has the NCAA ever made a decision that cost them money?

FBI AGENT umm the comment about we still on probation was not in relation to Bowen it was in regards to the european big man.People keep getting that bit of info wrong.

Just re read the affidavit and you are correct. Not sure that it changes anything as we still have an assistant coach involved in discussions about paying money to a recruit.

The hypocrisy in this mess is mind blowing

I’ve shared the same sentiments as well. We cleaned house, fired the HC, assistants and the AD. The player never played a single minute. Even though it wasn’t a self imposed ban from a technical perspective, it cost us a year from playing in the tournament. Not sure what more we could do.

What was done was wrong, 100% agree with that. But the only person you punish at this point is the fans.

And the current players, none of whom were here at the time.

It's all just getting started.

People have short memories... I heard at least a dozen times in the last year that we would never get to this point...
