That black tar combover was legendary. He also won the head to head with Knight 22-20.

The NCAA tournament is set up the way it is now with neutral sites and no home court hosts anymore because of Keady. Keady lost to Syracuse @ Syracuse, Memphis @ Memphis, and LSU @ LSU 3 out of 5 years. Mean Gene just had the worst luck in the tournament.

I know Keady was at Western for 3 seasons. I’ve always thought that Izzo was with Jud Cheapcoat at Michigan State. Crean may have been there, he married a Harbaugh, which her father was football coach for WKU.

Crean was at Western under Ralph Willard and Izzo was a Jud protégé.

He was. I started at WKU in 1980 and Keady was coach at that time.

Johnny Oldham, a former assistant to Ed Diddle. WKU was once a power. Up until about the mid 80's they were 3rd in total number of wins. They were the main reason Rupp refused to play instate teams.
