our years after dumbass denim shirt wearing Sampson were rough. I have a feeling UofL will be in just as bad of shape for a year or two and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

That said, I assume Louisville will still be a very attractive job with the facilities, fan base and pay... but the recent history of wrong doings is almost unprecented in modern hoops. NCAA could REALLY come swinging at y'all.

Just wanted to give my condolences and best wishes as I know college hoops means a lot more to me than it probably should and I'm sure many of you are in the same boat.

I feel sorry for them as a UK fan. They don't deserve this. We're rivals and trade barbs all the time, but I hope they don't get the death penalty. It would have devastating financial ramifications on the city and state. The Yum Center financial situation is not good to begin with. Our rivalry is good for both programs and good for the state. We don't want to see that damaged.

As a fan of the sport, I hate seeing Pitino having to go for this stuff. College athletes deserve to be paid and I think ALL the major programs have some dirt. I think giving a kid in poverty money when TV networks and schools make millions of their backs is just fine.

When Pitino came to UofL...the rivalry exploded. When Cal came to UK, it became the top rivalry in the sport. I will miss that intensity.

But, after all the "Pay Pal Cal, Cal cheats, we do it the right way" stuff I've heard since 2009, I can now enjoy people realizing that they need to check their own closets first.

I'll post more later about him, but UofL needs to go after former Murray State coach and current Iowa State coach Steve Prohm.

However, until payments for players are part of their scholarships, you cant take other money. This idiots family couldnt wait until march/april when he could have started taking shoe contract money while awaiting the NBA draft ?

Im glad the FBI and the IRS are going after the greedy families.

I couldn't agree more, as a huge UK fan, that this sucks for our rivalry with UofL. Hope the kids there that have not committed any wrong-doing aren't also punished. Fine the University, punish the athletics department, fire the AD and coaches, but don't come down on any of the current athletes.

I don't find any pleasure in this scenario. Both fanbases (same as every school) have people that go to extremes. There's a dark side in most of us that smiles knowing how the crazies from your rival must be responding.

99% of fans are good people and don't deserve this. The rivalry itself is best when both schools are contenders.

This transcends basketball or rivalries. College Basketball will be different as a result of this. Hope it spreads to college football (I don't think shoe companies are as influential in football.)

I understand coaches, financial reps, shoe companies having a level of guilt. The one thing that bothers me is that the people demanding $ (parents, guardians, etc...) are made out to look like victims. The adult who says, "X is not signing with anyone until we see some cash." is just as guilty as the people who provide the $ and should be punished in the same manner.
