Former players ,friends clamoring for Kenny Payne as U of L coach

No thanks...has nothing to do with UK, Cal, or anything else other than he has zero HC experience and we have that now. The former players need to just let Tyra do his job.

Not feeling much love for Kenny Payne. I really don't know why other than he's never been a head coach anywhere and we already have that with David Padgett.

He is well connected in the recruiting circles, and I'm not sure that's a good thing since we're already facing sever sanctions over the last debacle. Everyone with an IQ higher than their current age understands how dirty the recruiting game is.

Rick Bozich writes what Jerry Eaves tells him to write for whatever reason. The more he tweets the dumber he looks, Bozo the Clown - WDRB STYLE!

KP needs to get his job now before college basketball implodes along with him...

No. Not under any circumstances. With all that has gone on with the program we can ill afford to associate with anyone who has ties with the dirty underbelly of college basketball and that certainly includes Worldwide Wes.
As much as I love those teams from the 1980's I believe those players believe we can resurrect that era. Sadly, the college game has changed radically since those more innocent days and it isn't going back.

Should Kenny Payne be hired count me among the many who would be out as supporter of the program.
This is a slap in the face to Padgett here at midsession and I shouldn't be, but am surprised, that this is even a topic for an article at this juncture. In my mind it even lends credence to the tinfoil hat crowd that there is a conspiracy afoot by UK loyalists to bring the program down.

First of all I think this is bad form. We have a coach and an on-going season with a team that is 1-0 in ACC play. I think the powers at be/powers of influence should stay silent and let this cake bake.

I know very little about him aside from being on one of our national championship teams. Truthfully I would hope we can get a bigger and more proven guy, but yeah man give him an interview if there's interest from Tyra and Payne.

The UK fans will scream the "little brother" stuff hiring their coach, but whatever, he was ours before he was theirs, and I guess I just don't care really. That's their problem. Payne is a Louisville National Champion, so whoever is welcome to think whatever they wish.

This is among the most useless click bait propositions ever put forth. Bozich, the ever-homely Sullivan and Larry Gag Me Out Brown, are gasping for click popularity. On one hand, fueling speculation during the earlier part of a season in an existing coach's resume season is unfair and simply bad manners, on the other hand Kenny ****ing Payne?? For real, lol??? He has never even coached a team on his own - in his life. Not AAU, not high school............I mean, no one would care about this @sshole if these people had the taste of a poop-tossing monkey. Payne burnt up any potential connection here long ago. If you don;t know that, I wonder how you can call yourselkf a hoops fan., Kenny Payne............ROFLMAO!!! Tell me another one, man.

So...that's a "no" vote? Your position seems a little vague on the matter. :p

I think the only positive that could come out of KP being the next head coach is the presumptuous influx of high level talent. He'd get players, given what we've seen in Lexington. That could possibly be the best way out of the darkness. Of course, it's not a certainty Payne could still get players once away from Cal. But, if that's something he says he knows he can do during the interview process, that could weigh heavily in his favor.

With sanctions/probation, whoever comes in will be at a disadvantage from the start. I don't think a 1st year head coach needs to come in an environment where he does not have the luxury of a full roster.

I actually think there is a distinct possibility DP could be offered a 2nd 1 year contract. I have serious doubts UofL will have a permanent President or AD in place at the end of this basketball season, or the complete picture of the fallout of the NCAA investigations, to make these critical long term decisions

There’s no way to say how Payne would recruit at another school & without sweaty cal and his bagman www. Being completely realistic - Pitino certainly didn’t recruit at the same high level at Louisville that he did at uofk so it seriously doubtful that Payne would be able to do so.

Plus, you’ve gotta know what to do with them if you get them. As previously posted - any success the sweaty cal “system” has had, is predicated on having loads of talent. When he has only 2 - 3 studs, he’s an NIT coach - as we’re all of his assistants that left and couldn’t get the 5 - 5*s a year needed for the dribble drive to be effective.

Don’t be fooled by his success at SuCk recruiting under Calimaris system it’s not a hard gig. Just look at how successful KP was at Oregon. Not. Sorry give me a proven guy. Marshall, Mack, or Hurley.

If this happens WE ARE SCREWED! That would be one dumb idea! Try recruiting with that setup!
