The “chief” Felton Spencer was arrested and charged with a DUI. Felton was currently serving as an assistant coach for Scotty Davenport at Bellarmine. A logical replacement if Felton is placed on leave is David Padgett.

Don’t think it is full time, sort of like contract basis. David did interview with Bellarmine to see if they had any openings. Anyway, I was just speculating. His 1st love is coaching. Still believe DP is HC material and working under Scotty until he hangs it up would be a good thing.

Hey nccardfan, I think you’re right about having a game to game kinda contract, and he sure did a great job the other day I saw. I’m sure he’ll be doing more and more unless he takes a Coaching job! I hope he gets a chance at a good program, because he certainly earned it! Anyway, I hated to see you guys let him go. Although I think you guys made a slam dunk hire, for sure. I really thought David was doing a great job, considering the players he had.. He had them playing hard and all game and they got tougher as the year went on. Lol. Man Rick was a hard guy to follow, but I really respected the hell out of what David was able to do in the time he had.

Again, I’m not trying to say that the future isn’t looking great, because it is, I’m just saying I wish he would’ve had a little longer to see how he would’ve done. I loved how hard those kids played and you could see that they respected him and played for each other. They may not have won as many games as some wanted, but it sure wasn’t because of effort.

Looking back now at how his players improved throughout the year was incredible, every single guy that played much, got better as the season went on and toughness is a word that keeps coming to my mind about him, and his team. To me, Last year is a year that you all will remember for a long time!! Not because of being the best team or having the greatest players in the world, but for the guys on that floor that played so hard for you all, and a coach that was giving everything he had for the University and he absolutely fought till the last second of the last game.

I really do appreciate someone like David, a person who has everything to prove and put everything he had into it. The fire, the toughness, the improvement of his players throughout the season, showed me all that I needed to know about that young man. I’ll bet everything that he succeeds in whatever it is he does in life, and I truly hope someone gives him a chance! The way he played, is what is going to make him a great coach one day.

Thanks buddy. Sorry for the long post, but I really do think this young man needs to be running a program somewhere soon. With how hard he works, (and that’s what it is, he’s just hungry and he’s going to flat out outwork the other guys), he’s going to end up being a one of those guys that you won’t want to see during Tournament time, but Like all up and comers, he going to haft to get that big break! I sure hope he get it!! Thanks again.

I see Felton at the Thorntons he got popped at all the time. The guy is as nice as they come.
