Feds give NCAA permission to start investigations our season screwed

Well isn’t this great news. Here we go. First up will be us. Always the low hanging fruit

This is good news. It indicates that the Feds want this thing to escalate. And it also indicates they're probably going to cooperate at some level.

Other schools have far more to lose than we do. U of L was a piker in the pay-for-play shoe game...

Fight fight fight and make the NCAA do their job. Although the Feds pretty much did the leg work for them.

It’s going to boil down to what they can prove about Kenny’s $1300.00 payment. Does he fight it, which we need him to do or remain silent

Burn it all down. The Cards have done all they can do to rectfiy this situation, so just burn down division 1 basketball and start over if it wasn't good enough. Burn down divison 1 basketball and kill the corruption from the blue bloods all the way down to Cleveland State.

I don't understand how this indicates the Feds want something to escalate.

I don't know for sure that we were "on probation". And we sure as hell won't be the only school implicated in money changing hands, directly or indirectly...

You mean why two points of attack aren't more effective than one? Are you just playing dense?...
I sort of see your angle but I don't think that is what the Feds are doing. I think they are effectively done. They aren't interested in the schools, as they see the schools as victims and they don't seem interested in most of the coaches either or they would have done something to the UL coaches who were involved. That said, I'm not sure what could escalate the situation. It will create a conundrum for coaches though. They are required to cooperate with the NCAA but if the threat of prosecution is hanging over their heads, the NCAA won't be able to force them to talk.

I have said from the beginning that the indictments that came out would be the only ones. I still think that as nothing has happened to change my opinion.

Interesting the Feds announced this at the very time Kansas was playing, hmmm. Time to get it over so let's go.

I don’t think the feds want the NCAA interviewing anyone they are considering prosecuting. There is a Supreme Court case that says if an employer threatens an employee’s job if they don’t submit to an interview then the things said by the employee can’t be used against the employee in a subsequent criminal trial. The justification is that the threat to employment makes the statement involuntary and therefore inadmissible under the constitution. While university employees are not NCAA employees the NCAA can effectively keep them from being employed in college athletics if they don’t cooperate.

And of course, that's the prevailing slapd!ck POV...

What you're arguing means the FBI doesn't believe there's anything more to be discovered about U of L. As far as institutional control, that's not bad news for us. And I've never seen any hard evidence (an effective date) that U of L was "on probation" when the latest infractions occurred.

I'm not saying the FBI is simply interested in more visibility and evidence. But if they're finished with a university and its coaches/staff, there's no reason to prevent the NCAA from fanning the flames. In fact, it helps the FBI's cause to potentially unearth more evidence about other programs and operatives. The NCAA amateur model has been affirmed, and the NCAA can get to work cleaning up its house...

It doesnt mean anything since it was all just a plan by Dawkins.

I disregarded it; none of it means anything. All 40+ of Lite's five-stars are clean...

What the hell is the NCAA going to do? Take away the 1986 Championship banner? They have more ex UK players in enforcement than any other organization so screw em.
