Records from criminal investigations normally don’t become public records until used in court or in an affidavit submitted in support of complaint or warrant application. Even after investigation concludes federal criminal investigation records have names of persons who are not charged redacted because of Privacy Act.

NCAA only goes after low hanging fruit. In the face of a scandal that could impact all of the sacred cows I could see them simply punting and not doing anything.

The NCAA's as much under the microscope in this sideshow as the "member institutions". They will tread carefully between too-much and too-little because their very existence is on the line...

You are right it could be years before the courts release any of the FBI's documents, who knows I would assume the schools that are worried are the one's that had a relationship with the agent who coordinated all this crap to begin with. The thing is this guy will skate most likely.
