Offense - Headed towards a third starting QB in the first 3 games. Abandoned the run early. Offensive line struggling mightily. Young receivers look nice but w/o a line to block and avoid penalties it doesn't matter.

Defense - Giving up yards in chunks. Inability to make plays in the backfield with limited opportunities.

Special Teams - Huge letdown on kick return for TD when momentum appeared to be leaning our way. Solid game by the punter but one play can swing a game and giving up the 100 yard return put them back in the game.

Coaching - Difficult to applaud anybody right now.

Bottom Line - Houston is no slouch but sitting 0-2 is not where you want to be. Musical chairs @ QB wouldn't appear to be a winning recipe. Schedule appears to lighten up second half of the season. Clemson looks like a must win. Hard to have confidence given the # of problems we have.

The bottom line is the offensive line is bad. Who knows if it will get better but if a team can't run the ball with any effectiveness then their chances of winning goes down significantly. In this era of faced pace offensives teams that can't run extend the time their defense is on the field. Houston ran over 80 plays. That impacts the defense.

In the last two drives there were two holding calls as Louisville got inside the 30. The first one ended up not hurting because they scored a TD. The last drive, that hold, killed the drive and effectively ended the game. I said it the beginning of the year this entire year would be only as good as the OLine. Unfortunately, they don't have the luxury of having a couple easy games to work out the kinks.

Turnovers kill drives and put the defense in terrible spots having 4 and only getting 1 is a recipe for disaster.

The defense still isn't deep enough to be on the field for 80 plays. With that said the front seven has been a big disappointment. Auburn ran with no problem and Houston did the same. A good defense shuts them down after the offense takes the lead not once but twice. That is a real concern.

FACTS:

Houston OUTPLAYED Louisville in EVERY phase of the game...And at this point in the season...Houston is a MUCH BETTER TEAM!!!

The Cards NEED to LEARN how to tackle!!!

Yep, full four phase beat down. Very very bad coaching and game prep. Effort by all teams was H O R R I B L E. Not even a glimmer of hope here.

If Cards lose to Clemson on Thursday, coaches should begin to switch focus on 2016. Play freshmen and sophomores at every position.

If team doesn't meaningfully improve by first part of 2016, coaching assistants should be individually evaluated for retention.

O Line coach should be evaluated now.

Nothing positive out of this effort today.

Bad bad.

The margin for error in college football is very small. The thing that made Petrino a great coach is his attention to detail. The problem since his return is they are the ones making the key mistakes at the key times against better teams. Louisville isn't going to out talent anyone they have to out execute. They aren't even close at this point especially against the better competition.

There seem to be no on-field leaders. Or on-sideline leaders. No emotion. Nobody who will get in their faces.

It looks like a brand new team with no one to learn anything from. No standards of excellence or behavior or performance.

Emotion usually is helped by staff and by Juniors and Seniors.

Defense looks plum deflated.

I was amazed with the LACK of enthusiasm on the UofL sideline. NOT ONE player was jumping up and down and getting excited during the game. UofL can be a good team (far from great). GO CARDS!!!!

We are in a DEEP ditch and a flood is occurring and everybody is trying to swim to safety and we are all drowning! Seeing this team operate I did not feel a Win and the Clemson game will be a fiasco and we/they know it! A drastic reformation is due and forthcoming or....gulp!

Its been clear as day that Bolin is the QB that puts us in great position to win games. I really wanna know what the hell is he not getting done in practice to make coach so reluctant to play him. We would be 2-0 if he was named the starter like most thought. The offense would be run very smooth and our defense would actually get rest instead of being on the field for what it seemed like the entire game.

If Bolin was smart he would transfer to another program. This guy is just too good to not be appreciated by a coach who only uses him when he needs to get bailed out or all the other options at QB are exhausted.

We aren't tOSU or Bama but at the same time we have too much talent to lose to Houston. Jurich was better off paying an up and coming coordinator to be our coach instead of paying Petrino and Grantham all that money to take us back to the kragthorpe days. I am for the first time in a long time ashamed to be a card fan.

It's the most perplexing thing I've ever seen. Hell we'd have been 10-2 or 11-1 last year if not for his Reggie Bonnafon infatuation. Please tell me he's starting Bolin against Clemson.

The great offensive minds are always tweaking their offense. I am still trying to understand why the offensive staff wants to transition over to the spread option attack. I completely get having spread option packages but to switch your entire offense to a spread option is crazy because that isn't who you are. Petrino is a west coast guy with a power running game. That is who he was even at Western. He gets to Louisville and changes to more of a spread option offense.

I don't understand getting away from what made you the offensive coach that everyone hated to prepare for know it looks like everyone can prepare for his offense at least initially.

The Houston coach is a spread option coach. You either know how to coach that offensive system or you don't.
