Expected Starting Lineups Against Clemson

With Q out I was looking forward to who would be starting in his place, sure everyone else was curious as well. Currently it is listed as Ryan will get the starting nod. I'm a bit surprised, but next man up and let's do this. Get it Ryan.

That's my guess. He hasn't been performing nearly as well coming off the bench. To some guys, actually a heck of a lot, being in the starting line up is an instant moral booster, so hopefully with JJ that is the case.

Wish our coach would stop the mindgames and push this team to its potential.
He loses teams because not every player respond to the mental gymnastics he throws their way.

We are not playing the way he spent the entire summer and begining of the season saying we would.

He really must hate Hicks.

Its cryptic and frustrating the way he handles kids. I am sure the kids are frustrated at the mindgames.

I like levitch and Hicks. I believe we have nice depth. I wish he would play more like his 96 team did so we could develop depth and not wear players down playing too many minutes

Define what you mean by focus with a recent example for context.

In lieu of that, they lose focus occasionally because they're college kids with a million things going on. Full load of classes, combining practice and games equates to a full time job - with extended travel in top of it. Throw in the added pressure of playing at a program like UofL, family and fan expectations, social media, etc, etc, etc.

They signed up for it no doubt but, that's a lot for a 18-22 year old. They're gonna lose focus now and then.

Pretty sure that 90% of my replies include exactly what you're talking about. Simply scroll thru this thread for proof.

Posting that JJ is a double-double machine that would be getting more minutes if not for Pitino's mind games is as utterly baseless as saying that Pitino hates Hicks.

This is the place for opinions but, it sure helps when the opinions expressed have some rational basis in fact - wouldn't you say?

I believe we have a championship level team. It is funny that people never type a thread, but get pissy when any fan types out an opinion.

The team is far from perfect and opinions on a message board are a fans way to speculate on his team.

My opinion is it is bizzar that a player does not play 10 minutes in games and is now back starting.

It is bizzar to have a 5th year senior and not give him a chance. It is a waste of a scholarship in a year that we need a solid guard. I like Hicks and wish he was allowed to play more. That is my opinion.

Mangok's serviceable as a backup. I listened to Coach P's show last night on WHAS, and he said Mangok's finally back to where he was pre-injury. I think Matz is good insurance as a third C. Could be a lot worse...

Guard depth is more of an issue IMO

I don't like this game. Clemson is on a 4 game skid, looking to end a streak. They've played some good teams tight. We don't have our PG. They beat us last year and they weren't very good. The 9pm tip, too. Never been a fan.

Hopefully, I just exorcised the demons.

I don't like it much either BUT there will be an opportunity for the next man up to step up and shine. It's going to take a TEAM effort to beat Clemson, and 20 minutes worth of playing won't get it done tonight. Can't have any long scoring droughts and we'll have to play solid defense for the entire game. This one will probably be tougher than most think.

Do Mitchell and Adel step up and hopefully not try to over compensate or do too much in the absence of Q? Both have been playing well especially Mitchell.

Can Pitino get away with playing a combination of McMahon, Hicks and Levitch at the 1? How quickly does he move Mitchell over to the 1 and run Adel and King together?

Do we get a surprise or unexpected performance from someone tonight? Huge opportunity for a breakout game.

Tonight will tell us a lot more about this team and their depth in the backcourt.

I expect someone to step up and have a breakout game just like Harrell did when Gourgi went down.
