EXH #2: LOUISVILLE VS SPALDING GAME THREAD- 7PM ACCNX

I CAN NOT stand to listen to Jody talk. He always talks like he's doing 3 things and once and is distracted. Has to say "uh" between every other word..

Lests go Cards !!

Glad to see more drives and scoring inside. Cards also getting many deflections and steals

What's with all the fouls in the 2nd half? Are the refs trying to simulate the regular season?

😎

Sloppy this game. Gotta cut down on careless TOS.
Yeah sloppy for sure. Could just be a little bored with such a difference in talent and score.. Hard to really tell how good this team is. I go back and forth about it. I guess when we play Tennessee in a couple weeks we'll get something to judge them by..

Very interested to see how they do against Tennessee. Will definitely get a better idea of what this team can and can't do so far.

I was there. Sat up from the bench. The improvement in culture is amazing to watch.

Everyone is engaged and in to every play.

With that being said, my only concern is, are players being held accountable? There is NEVER anything negative, and I'm all for that. But it's not okay to make a silly pass out of bounds, not okay to get lost on D. I hope we have the toughness and accountability to take on the schedule that's coming.

Kelsey gets heated with the guys—at least he did at Charleston. But he's not going to be a Kenny Payne and throw guys under the bus and embarrass them out of pure ignorance of how to talk to the media and deal with players, and he's not going to get in kids' faces and belittle them the way Rick did.

I was curious about PK coaching style. He seems intense so didn't know if he was a "get in your face and shout" coach or not.

I'm sure we'll see more of his sideline demeanor and ways as the real games start.

It's hard to draw conclusions on these exhibitions unless they go poorly.

I've only casually watched. They move the ball, share it, seem to take a joy in each other's success. Yes, they seem to understand how to play as a unit, this is where experience and a HC strategy are quite apparent.

They are going to struggle to rebound. They will also be on the short end with paint points and interior play most nights.

So with that, at first glance I'd expect to see the staff look for wrinkles to try to reduce the impact of lack of front court. The 5 out is a start to that, it is true the other team is going to have to cover a hybrid 4/5 that we play. This is going to create mismatches for both sides, so it will be interesting to see what wins out there. Looks like the Cards will need to win the 3pt war most nights.

But the overall takeaway is they have a HC that has strategy and is focused on wins, ya know, the only things fans care about if they are being honest. Tough out of conf schedule hope they hang in there.

I don't think CPFK is going to let mistakes go unpunished. I don't think during an exhibition game that we were fully in control start to finish is a good place to work on discipline though.

To your other point about toughness. I'm going to be really interested in seeing how tough this team is when it sees some adversity.. They may be fine, they may have some dog in them. It's just hard to tell so far..

I like a lot about this team and so far CPFK is hitting home runs to all fields and seems to say and do everything right. If he can win it's going to be so much fun because he loves Louisville and respects our tradition..

That other jack wad Eeyore we had for the last couple of years left us in a crater and damaged our legacy, I think Kelsey is the perfect guy to turn it around. 🙏

Even before we play Tennessee, Morehead State (picked 4th in the OVC) will give us a very good idea of where we stand. Beat a team like Morehead by double digits, and we can all get really excited about this team’s prospects.

I think punished is not in character from what I have seen unless someone does something stupid repeatedly. More of a teaching moment rather than excuses or banishment like that last guy or the dude who screwed our program. The fact we have so many upperclassmen leads me to believe those teaching moments will be about schemes and not a lack of IQ.

Go back and read the post I was replying to. By not letting things go unpunished I mean bad shots, ball hoging, not running the offense, not hustling will not be tolerated and will probably land them on the bench. In the first 4 games I've already seen that happen several times.

There are no remote comparisons between the last slob we had and CPFK..

we need to play tougher teams in the exhibition. big programs are playing tougher pre season schedules. Indiana played Tennessee. Kansas played Arkansas.

A Charleston-Louisville exhibition game would be good for both schools. Mack against Kelsey.

Maybe starting next season they could set that up. I believe these exhibition games were already scheduled from the past year.

On the bright side, the Cards OOC is loaded and isn't cupcake city.

Accountability might happen in practice and in the film room. We’ll see soon enough.

With 1 6th year player, 4 5th year players, 5 seniors, 1 junior and 1 sophomore on scholarship, there really should be a great deal of self-accountability on this team!
