Ellis Entering NBA Draft But Retaining Eligibility

He's leaving all his options open and whatever he decides I wish him luck. Payne has to know he's at best a question mark so I'm expecting some news soon either on the kid from Temple or somewhere else.

I agree. I don’t think he’s get drafted, but you never know what potential someone else may see. There have been a lot “makes and misses” in the NBA draft. Can he make it and be on the end of some team’s bench or get a 2-way contract with the bulk of his minutes in the G League? Possibly. Can he take and make some big shots? Get to the basket? Yes

I don’t think he’s a true PG (sarcastic). Can you see him playing SG and defending opposing SG at that level?

Question Marks (in no particular order):
Decision making (over penetrating, passing, etc..)
Turnovers
Defense (on/off ball and help)

I don’t see it, but again… It’s good for him to explore his options.

I guess 75% chance he comes back. A dood point guard feeding him on the break and it could be exciting.

“Plans to sign with an agent, will maintain college eligibility.” I thought these two things were mutually exclusive. Am I mistaken about this?

The NCAA revised its rules and began implementing a certification process for agents to represent Division I men's basketball players while they weigh their prospects of trying to compete in the NBA. Under the change, if student-athletes use an NCAA-certified agent while gathering information on whether to enter the NBA draft, they retain their college eligibility if they choose to return to school.

Thank you for the clarification! I was a bit puzzled by the statement as well.

Not considering NIL, I’m not sure what there is left for him to accomplish at U of L. Another school, possibly.

Unless significant NIL money is involved, I think he’s probably played his last college game…
