All of what has happened has really made this decision very easy for me. With Matt Jones and all his UK cronies and UK fans celebrating like we defeated terrorism, it should be obvious for UofL fans that the rest of the state hates us. Why should we help a state whose people absolutely hate us? I know for me I am so glad I do not live anywhere near the state of Kentucky anymore. I know it would be hard for UofL fans in Jefferson County and surrounding counties, but I would like to propose, as much as possible while still living your life, an economic boycott of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Do it in all avenues, do not go to shopping center or restaurants outside of Jefferson County or Southern Indiana. If you decide you want to take a weekend trip in the mountains or on a lake somewhere, go to Tennessee or West Virginia. Do not go to any state parks or resorts over in Eastern Kentucky, do not go to Land between the Lakes in Western Kentucky. If you are looking to take a few days and go on the Bourbon Trail through Kentucky, instead take that weekend and go up to Chicago or down to Nashville, both are an easy 3 - 4 hour drive away. When you do go on trips make sure you get gas in Louisville, don't get gas again until you are out of the state of Kentucky. Do not stop to eat or buy food anywhere in Kentucky outside of Louisville.

For business purposes, if you have clients in town put them in hotels in Southern Indiana so Kentucky doesn't get any bed tax revenues. Have big client dinners over in Southern Indiana and if you need to rent meeting space, do so in Southern Indiana and not in Kentucky. Try to steer business away from Kentucky outside of Jefferson County.

Do not attend any sporting events outside of UofL games where the state of Kentucky might benefit. This includes any contests between UofL and in state schools at the other schools location(UK, WKU, EKU, Murray, NKU). Do not attend Bats games, do not attend any races or concerts up at Kentucky Speedway. Do not attend any horse racing events at Keeneland.

When it comes to purchasing items, try to go with national retailers or local retailers over in Southern Indiana, in the very least do not purchase from local retailers in Kentucky outside of Louisville. When you are buying items off Amazon or Ebay make sure the buyer is from Louisville or out of state, make sure to keep the economic impact out of Kentucky.

Lets see how much these UK fans are laughing when they have so little money coming from the state they can't even afford to have a port o let next their trailer. :) Let's see how much UK fans are laughing when their sports programs can't get new facilities because the state is in a budget crunch (since we all know unlike UofL who uses private financing for almost all our sports facilities UK has to go begging to the state). Lets see how much these UK fans are laughing when they get laid off, or their restaurant goes under because of sagging business. If we're going to go down, by God lets take the entire state down with us!

I am putting actions behind my words. I am coming up to Louisville for a week to see family and go to the Syracuse game. I was going to leave a day early and come up, stop in Bowling Green, spend the nigh and then tour the Corvette Museum and go to the Jim Bean distillery the next day before arriving in Louisville. Not I am just going to spend an extra day in Louisville and I am going to make sure I gas up in Tennessee so that I do not spend one cent on gas or anything else in Kentucky outside of Louisville. To be completely honest if I hadn't already informed my family I was coming up I would probably just cancel the trip entirely. I could have spent that money and gone over to New Orleans for Mardi Gras or down to the Keys!

Lets make this entire state suffer with us. Without the city of Louisville, and by that regards UofL fans, this state is nothing. Lets see how much they are laughing when the state is broke.

And on a side note to all of this, I haven't been to a home basketball game in 2 years so I don't know if they still play My Old Kentucky Home (such a racist song anyway, just like the state and it shouldn't be sung), but if they do we should all use this time to go down to the concourses. Give the song no respect at all. We could also arrange to have everyone turn their backs and talk to each other during the song.

This song has as much of a place at UofL games as a Nazi flag has at a Jewish Community Center. No respect for a song representing a state that hates everything about us.

If you decide to not go to the game I know somebody looking for tickets.

While some of this I can understand because there is a large part of the state that does hate Louisville but boycotting local businesses will only hurt us as well in that it hurts the small business owners who actually do need us. I just do my part by not listening to the morons who think this state isn't kept alive by the city of Louisville. Without Louisville, this state would be nothing but cow pastures, coal mines and a bunch of ignorant bigots full of hate.

I would say if you know the local business supports UofL or is owned by UofL fans then support them. But don't support any local businesses that you aren't sure about or who you know support UK. Do not support any local business outside of Jefferson County, even if you aren't sure of their allegiance. In boycotts there is sadly always some collateral damage, but sadly that is unavoidable.

I thought only UofK fans tried this boycott angle. Good luck on getting people to honor your request who live in the area. I can honestly say it'll be easy for me because I'm in Texas.

I never said it would be easy but that's the only power we have at this point. I absolutely think in the very least My Old Kentucky Home should not be played at any UofL sporting events. It's offensive to play a song about a state who hates us. It would be like hanging a Nazi flag at a Jewish Community Center.
It's hard to argue your point. It sure seems to be valid. It makes me wonder how many tax dollars Jefferson County AKA Louisville accounts for regarding the entire state. I bet the state itself couldn't pay its bills without the revenue from the city of Louisville.

Cue Card it's well known the Jefferson County alone accounts for around 50% of all tax revenues for Kentucky. Jefferson County gets half the money back that it contributes via taxes. That money goes to other counties in the state that get far more money than they ever contribute. It's not crazy at all to think that the state could go bankrupt without Louisville, and in the very least, would be in absolutely terrible shape. You are talking crumbling infrastructure, Flint level water problems, etc.

That's why Louisville would be in so much better shape as it's own state, the city would instantly double it's tax revenue. We would actually have really good roads for example, compared to now where there are so many roads in Louisville that are in terrible shape while there are beautiful new roads in Eastern Kentucky going to nowhere.

Louisville is the only thing that keeps Kentucky above the likes of Mississippi, West Virginia and North Dakota.

I'm pretty sure a city isn't legally able to secede from the United State of America. I think the only state that can legally make that move if they ever wanted to is Texas. :D

I never said secede, try to become a 51st state or in the very least see if we could join Indiana. I know it would never happen (even though who knows what will happen if the U.S. breaks up which I do think will happen in my lifetime) but it's nice to think about. The point is do whatever we can to hurt the state.

That's a valid point except for there are probably more UK fans living in Louisville than actual UL fans. No proof of that but I would say there is a good portion of UK fan base in that area.

Well shoot, since we can just say stuff with no proof, I say there are more UofL fans living in Japan than UofK fans. Take that!

Bobcat completely wrong, funny how you all just can't let that myth go. The Courier-Journal (which is pro UK so it's probably not even as close as you want to believe) even did an official poll about this debate. I think they said something like 55% UofL, 40% UK, 5 other. I live in Louisville for 15 years so I think I know a little bit about it, from what I've always seen I would say 55% UofL, 30% UK, 15% other. Of course you are a UK fan, so I know you live in your own little world.

And here's the other thing too, out of the other 15% almost all of them typically end up cheering for UofL over UK. The gap is growing as most people who move to the area and are not from the area tend to start cheering for UofL. This is true for both of my parents neighbors, neither one originally from Louisville, moved here for work both cheer for UofL and hate UK. The only UK fans I see are ones sadly born into it. But again don't let me not live in your little world, never mind you have no facts to back up your claim.

Considering we could've built the YUM Center years earlier if Louisville got back all the tax dollars it's given instead of getting it all stolen to build roads to nowhere in Eastern Kentucky we've more than paid for it, the state absolutely owed us the YUM Center.

As far as I'm concerned the state of Kentucky still owes the city of Louisville at least a couple hundred million more in tax dollars.

Yeah, while we're at it..the state should work on taking care of the Yum center aND changing that up...considering all the tax payers are footing that bill.
Why not? We could call it Billy Bob's Arena! What say you? What about Lexmark Arena? Adolph Arena? Secretariat Arena? Ball Holler Arena?

Any of those to your liking?

And while we're at it UKBrass where's my tax refund for Commonwealth Stadium and Rupp Arena? Completely built on the backs of the tax payer. Half the money to build Commonwealth Stadium and Rupp Arena was probably stolen from the Louisville taxpayers.

UofL, always privately financed and supported by the university donors. UK, always going to the state to take more money from taxpayers.

I think that once was true but the last time I heard statistics on that it UL 60% UK 40% and it trending in UL favor. What we need to do is make it very uncomfortable when they show up at our games in their gear, unless we're playing them.

He's venting. I understand. Can you imagine if he still lived in Louisville and had to put up with the news outlets bias approach everyday, wow. You can't get a group to boycott anything.

Nice message. It's all fine and great to have a rivalry. But these guys really do hate us. And live to take us down in any capacity. Really good message here. Think about where you spend your money, especially if you have options.
