Gotta hand it to Chip Kelly, he may be the most arrogant SOB in the sports world. Unless there are some huge unknown facts that we and the media are not privy to, how do you trade the most exciting and versatile running back in the league who is only 26 years old for a Linebacker that missed all of last year with a torn ACL? Well, I guess it's because Alonso played for Kelly at Oregon and he and McCoy butted heads last year. Good luck with explaining that to Philly fans.

No doubt Alonso is a tackling machine when healthy but Rex Ryan just bent Kelly over a barrel on this trade. This is a road that has been paved by other ego maniacs like Steve Spurrier before. Kelly has already had a lot more success than Spurrier in the NFL but trading away a player in his prime who is one of the top 5 offensive players in the league for one of your buddies is a good start to ending up like The Old Ball Coach IMO.

The Bills feel confident with Preston Brown. Obviously, if he didn't play like he did last year, they'd be keeping Kiko. Also, the Vikes shipped off Cassell to the Bills. Vikes are all in on Teddy.

Agree about Preston Brown but how in the world can you not get more for LeSean McCoy than Kiko Alonso if you are the Eagles?

McCoy is a better player no doubt but I think one of the main reasons this move was made is to free up some money in the salary cap. McCoy is owed almost 12 mill next year, that's very high for any player let alone a RB. To put that into perspective Peyton manning will make 15 mill next year. Plus McCoy has had several concussions already and everyone knows RB's get beat up a lot.

Kiko flashed pro bowl potential in his rookie year. The Bills "won" the trade but it's not as lopsided as you might think

It's all about the cap space. Also, trading for Alonzo is a shot across the bow to last year's first round pick, Marcus Smith. It very likely means that Marcus will not make the roster (another cap clearing move). Kelly is probably positioning himself to draft his former QB, Mariota.

Marcus had a pretty underwhelming rookie season for sure. That they are clearing cap space for the trade up to get Mariota is a good point and that sure sounds like what the Eagles are doing. I still think it's pretty arrogant of Kelly to think that he's just going to "plug in" someone to replace McCoy. Guys with McCoy's skills are very rare but it's all about "the system" with him.

Still think they could have gotten more in the trade with Buffalo such as a future draft pick or one this year.
