Haven't seen anything like that since the Cal/Stanford game back in the 80's. Just wow...............

Miami should have been called for 12 men on field before the player crossed goal line.

I'm still confused as to how they picked up the flag for block in the back. The officials have some explaining to do.

There was a block in the back, but it wasn't the one they were talking about right before the score. It was right before the last lateral, at about the 38-39 second mark in the espn link above. Never heard that one mentioned during the 9 minute review.

I feel so sorry for Duke losing like this. NOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!

This ain't basketball Dukies. Now you know how it feels to get the short end by the officials.

Miami really needed a shot in the arm to their FB program.....it just happened to be at Duke's expense. I'm just so really, really sad about it and all.:confused::(;)

When did it become a rule that after replay the refs can determine they shouldn't have thrown a flag? The illegal block was to the side and not the back after replay? Why not then change pass interference after replay? This is the biggest travesty I have ever seen in a football game. Don't like Duke or Miami but even if this happened to UK, I would say the same thing. There were three blocks in the back on that play. The dudes knee was down. They went to replay and saw none of this?

If I was Duke I would protest and demand the ACC to admit there was a mistake made. If ever a score can be changed after the fact it is this game. I see no explanation on why they picked up the flag for block in the back and how they didn't see the knee down on the Miami player.

I think they just redefined what is a "reviewable play".

How can paid professionals lose track of something that fundamental to their job?

Hey zipp let us remember that the refs are working their "part time weekend" jobs. hahahaha ;) This couldn't have happened to a bunch of nicer folks.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

first off, if you actually watched the game, Miami got screwed most of the game by the reffs

lmao at duke complaining

Duke had 5 penalties, miami 23

please man, miami stopped them at the goal line and they called it a TD
None of this matters. Miami could have been robbed all game by the refs. What I saw on that last play was a travesty to not only Duke, but to the officials and the game. If it would have been only the three illegal blocks not flagged then it would just be another game with bad officiating. We see them all the time. But, they threw a flag on one of those and the ref actually announced it. It was only after the replay review that they then said it was a legal block. That is against the replay rules. Then there's the obvious replay of the Miami players knee down. What happened there? They didn't see that angle?

And then on top of all that, Miami players on the sidelines are running onto the field before the TD. There is a ref being passed by these players and he doesn't throw a flag. I counted five things that should have negated that TD and not one happened, even after a lengthy review. Every fan of college football should be outraged. I don't care who you like or hate. Even if the Cards won a game this way, I wouldn't be celebrating acting like we did something great. I don't anticipate too much happening with this travesty but what would happen if this was a playoff game? Heads would roll for sure.

I understand there are different opinions on the kick return reviews. Maybe they were legitimate blocks in the back, maybe not, but the officials didn't call them when they happened. However, if you watched the entire game as I did, you would conclude that Miami really got jobbed with the poor calls. The Duke final offensive series was just laughable. Just to remind people that may not have watched, Duke had 2 offensive drives for touchdowns in a little over 3 minutes. Miami earned that win!

That was my first thought. Since when can officials use replay to reverse a penalty for an illegal block? That's what they did.

I understand reviewing the play to see if there were any forward laterals or knees touching the ground but I would think the Duke coaches have a legitimate beef. Often officials talk themselves into picking up flags but unless there is a new rule allowing them to review illegal blocks this looked like they broke the rules on this one.

Miami did not earn that. That's a ridiculous notion. They were given the win. Period! Again, how bad the officiating was during the game is nothing new. Teams have been victims of terrible calls but still won. Duke had no way of winning after that travesty of a last play. It wasn't just one bad no call, it was several and a blown replay review.

It does not make up for the bad calls that went against Miami during the game. No one, even Miami fans should call that a earned win.

Ok, ok,ok. I'm ridiculous and you're the message board equivalent of Nick Saban. I get all that, but did you watch the game or just the final play on Sportcenter? If you watched the entire game you would have seen Miami pretty much control the game for 37 minutes only to lose control to a truly "ridiculous " officiated final 3 minutes.

Once again, that final play has nothing to do with who was the better team throughout the game. Despite their struggles, Miami still should have more talent than Duke. So it wouldn't surprise me if Miami was better throughout the game.

All I know is that final play was a travesty for the game of football. Regardless of who it happened to.

I can accept your opinion on the last play. I don't agree, but I see where you're coming from. However, if you had watched the sequence of plays and officiating on Duke's last offensive drive, you might have considered the biggest travesty being that there was a kickoff at 00:06 in the first place. 3 pass interference calls? Adding more time to the clock? A touchdown where the ball never crossed the goal line. I didn't look at the boxscore but the penalty difference seemed huge also.
