Dont fall for it. uofk losing

Play like they played in the first half at NC State gives them a slim chance. Play like they played in the second half and slim just left town.

Cards have never beat a Calipari uk team at Rupp and this squad isn't going to buck that trend. They'll win by 20 or 30 and then their fans will be happy with Cal once again and his "fire Cal" clock will be rewound until they lose again to someone else.

I don't think anyone expects to be within 20 at the final buzzer.
Not true. Hear me out.

The Cards problems are well known and were expected before game one. No one saw it being this bad, but there really wasn't any anticipation of winning a lot of games.

UK on the other hand who was again overrated in the polls, had lofty expectations having the national player of the year. There was much anticipation of winning a lot of games.

So with UK's 15 point loss to Missouri and the growing consternation of the fanbase, there's a ton of negative energy in that locker room.

Now they believe they have an easy win coming against Louisville and that may give the Cards an opening to make a statement. This will be an opportunity for KP to show his ability to coach at this level.

The Cards played NC State like a regular team. That loss looked like any other ACC road loss the Cards have endured since joining the conference. They didn't look like the keystone cops. The game wasn't over in the first 10 minutes.

They appeared to have improved and are making progress. Now for that to mean a upset win at Rupp I don't see, but I do believe it will be a competitive game. KP has all the motivation he needs to get these guys attention with an opportunity to beat the struggling Cats. Calipari is more concerned with his guys, not Louisville's.

And there lies the opportunity.

But since the black cloud is still hanging over the Cards program, a shocking upset would be asking too much from the Sports gods.

UK will do just enough and get their usual home cooking but after the game, UK fans in a win will still be upset, and Cards fans in a loss, will be a little more optimistic.

people are saying we haven't practiced since NC State game.
and KP didn't show for his own show.
Well, if that's true, strike down all I just said. UK by 26.

I just can't believe that's true because it hasn't been reported. Not to have practiced? What are they doing?

I had a very long post in another thread about it. Not only is it true, in my opinion, it's one of the most overlooked storylines going into this game and the rest of the season. They did not start practicing and prep for this game until Wednesday of this week. Granted, there are several times throughout the season when there is a short turnaround time for games and prep. Manning made the comments while filling in on KP’s radio show with Paul Rogers on Tuesday night. Drew Deener talked about it and played the sound on his show.

Don't believe it. Listen for yourself.

https://omny.fm/shows/the-deener-show/the-deener-show-wednesday-12-28-2022-hour-1 - starts discussing it around 7:25. Not a big Deener/Blakenbaker fan myself, but I did find this to be very interesting and even more telling about this staff.

Some of Manning's comments were a little concerning to me but hey this may be the right call - to take a long break. I don't like it and think it's too long of a break. I think there is some type of small break required on or around Christmas by the NCAA, but this time is also typically when most teams put in a lot of extra work as well.

In team sports, most anything is possible. I don't go into predicting game scores, I don't bet on them or anything like that either. These guys just haven't done anything to raise any expectations for any opponent, including UK IMO. But that said your post is a good read and in theory reasonable.

In this case, i think less practice would actually help.
Sad to say...............

Unfortunately, you may be right.

Another nugget - Going back to your OP, for those feeling like this may be a close game, UK has bounced back after their previous 3 road/neural site losses and won by an average of 34 points (they pulled away from FAMU late to win by 20) this season in Rupp, albeit against bad teams. I think Louisville might qualify as a bad team. We already know how difficult it is to win in Rupp. Anything is possible for sure, but this game has UK getting healthy written all over it.

At what point do the players become embarrassed with their effort? Until they decide to play hard these results aren’t changing.

I watched UK lose to Iowa, and for me that was a large consolation, as I had no expectation that our BB Team would be competitive.

I am looking forward to football spring practice!

So did I. Enjoyed every minute of the rout of the Mildcats. Stoops was at his miserable best. Young QB was terrible. Made Domann look good....I kid you not. Levis left them high and dry for this game. Loved it!

Ellis Lands, and James compete, and you can tell they do not like losing. Our big guys just aren't mentally tough, they don't want the contact and they play with absolutely no fire. Ellis hits a 3 to force a TO and screams let's go. His lack of efficiency and other problems aside, he is putting it on the line.

But…but…Kenny is a big man whisperer, right? Uh…no.
