It's obvious to me watching the injury that it was a shoe failure. Either defective manufacturing or design. He was injured when his planted foot on a cut tore through the shoes. Aren't they supposed to be designed for lateral support? Nobody expect their shoes to fall apart. His future earnings are worth millions!

I was thinking more about future earnings... even if healthy he’s probably sitting out.
Zion isn't cut that way.
Some kids would sit out...but you can tell Zion is a competitor. The best players aren't thinking about money....they're thinking about winning games. Kyrie Irving had a worse injury and had a bigger excuse not to come back and play...but he did come back and play.
He probably would have a case...but I bet he signs with Nike in April/May...so he will be compensated plenty by the swoosh
He also has an $8 million insurance policy pay-out if he gets hurt and it causes damage to his potential NBA earnings.
If he was my kid i say it's over prepare for the draft when you are going to be the number one or two pick no brainer.
Going to leave this one alone.
Is it offered to every NCAA athlete in all sports that wear Nike? Sure their be NCaa regulations and legal issues with that.
I'm not saying they'll play "for free" and not want what's best for their future....but I'm saying the best players have a competitive fire. Zion isn't going to abandon his teammates. Guys like Zion live for tournaments like March Maddness.
If his mindset is "better not go too hard or I may get hurt and ruin my draft stock"...then he's not that aggressive superstar anymore....that mindset will turn into him being more about his brand than his game....aka becoming another Carmelo Anthony. Melo made a lot of money...played at MSG...sold a lot of jerseys...but never won anything that mattered in the NBA.
Zion is gonna play again in 2-3 weeks unless he physically cannot play.
IMO, Pervis mailed it in after slipping on a wet spot vs Ohio State his senior year. That team and Pervis were never the same - a missed opportunity for our third (at the time) national championship.
If Zion tells Krzyzewski & Duke that he's shutting it down for the rest of the season. Zion and his family can expect an eviction notice from their new $million dollar home that Krzyzewski & Duke put them in.But come to think about it. That $million dollar home might be what's keeping Zion from trying to start a case against Nike. An insurance policy if you will.

I don't think Pervis "mailed it in" after the injury at OSU, but I do feel that he didn't trust his knee. I agree that both he and the team were never the same, including his pro career.
