It was not really possible to get much of a read on this team UofL based on either of the first two games. We were blown away by Alabama, but this Alabama team gives the appearance that they are going to blow away a lot of teams this year.
We struggled mightily against Indiana State, but like all football games played in torrential rainstorms, passing the football was very difficult, which gave the less athletic team a fighting chance. As a result, that game seemed much more competitive than it really was.
Western Kentucky is not very good this year. Of the 44 players listed as CUSA offensive all conference, WKU has one player (4th team tight end). Of the 48 defensive players listed as CUSA defensive all conference, WKU has 3 players - one 3rd teamer and two 4th teamers. WKU also had the 4th team punter. Steele lists them as having the worst offensive line and 2nd worst defensive line in CUSA, and #126 in all of the FBS in terms of experience. Their best unit is that they have the 5th best defensive backfield in CUSA.
If we have good weather, this UofL team should beat this WKU team by at least two TD's. A loss or a very narrow win against WKU would be scary in terms of what it would mean for the rest of this UofL football season.
