Do not overlook EKU

This game will really be a test for this coaching staff to get our guys refocused. EKU is a really good FBS team. Well coached and plays hard. If anything week 1 taught us, nobody is safe.

EKU played their last game on Thursday. They get 2 extra days of rest. We are now on not only a short week, but lose 2 days of preparation compared to normal. And we are coming off an emotional and tough game against a very good team. Our attitudes are positive, but we still put a lot into this game and there's always a chance of sleepwalking. There won't be a large crowd I imagine and nowhere near the energy of tonight.

Usually FBS teams can dominate FCS teams due to superior size and depth, but right now we don't have that large advantage until Scott gets us fully rebuilt. This will be EKU's Super Bowl and they will put every ounce of energy into winning this game.

I still see us winning, but it may be tougher than we are thinking. I see this game being tougher than the WKU game.

Agree completely. EKU dominated in their first game, rushing for over 300 yards. They will attempt to do the same against us. They are a top FCS level team and would give any FBS level team a competitive game.

If Jawon Pass can finally play a complete, turnover free game, and the defense gives us the same kind of effort we saw last night, we can win. Possibly by 3 TDS, depending on whether the throws are accurate.

But if instead EKU runs the ball on us (shortening the game and limiting our offensive opportunities) and we squander our opportunities on offense, we WILL get beat.

Jawon is in his fourth year here. He cannot treat the football like he’s carrying a loaf of bread, and he cannot treat catching a slightly off center or low shotgun snap or getting the ball into the arms of the ball carrier like any of that is optional.

Got to do a better job against the run against the Colonels than we did against the Irish or it'll be a 0-2 start. ND gashed the Cards early but then some adjustments were made and the run defense got better later on but still not good enough. Got to be stronger on defense in general IMO.

I think Satt can relay to them the role of “giant killers” and how important this game is to EKU.

Louisville -26.5, fwiw.

Yeah, if you’re EKU, there’s probably not a better opportunity to try and take the Cardinals down. In a few years, no one will remember the circumstances, only the outcome. See App St vs Michigan...

We are going to crush EKU.

And it won't be because EKU is bad. This team is locked in.

EKU is ranked in FCS poll. But I still think we come out fired up. I hope we dominate where our 2nd string can get lots of time. They are going to need the reps once ACC play starts.

Until I actually see an offense that can move the ball more consistently, I remain skeptical. I want Jawon to succeed as our QB, but the evidence we have so far in his two years as our starter is that we get about one good series out of 4 with him.

With 10 straight losses. I will take a win of any kind. But it would be very nice to see some consistency out of the first string offense against EKU.

One thing for sure they are going to stack the box. Not sure they will be able to cover or pressure Pass.

I agree 10 straight losses who knows what we will see on Saturday.

Coach Satt on with Ramsay yesterday mentioned how fired up EKU will be because of it being in-state, little guy vs big guy and how Satt comes from the lower ranks, he absolutely knows this game has been circled by EKU on the schedule. I am not concerned about his ability to have this team focused out of the gate tomorrow night.
Of course on the other hand, the spread opened at 26.5 and is already down to 20.5.
