Thought on which individual will look the most guilty? I 'm just going too say with the way everything goes for U of L it always turns out the worse side of the coin. Going to be interesting to say the least. I just don't want too hear Dino accussing Mack of doing something wrong and it appears true.

Who’s the head coach?

Heard the audio sound like a scene from Casino ,Goodfellows lol. I'm just relieved that all Dino had too say in it as far as illigal is what he has stated the videos and Ga's practicing nothing more than that really as far as violations that appear to be true so. That's the punishment facing U of L i'l take that hit

The extortionist is placed on 1 year’s probation and fined $10,000…and federal judge states he would have given a lighter sentence if allowed. The victim gets placed on a 6 game suspension, costing him roughly $221,000…by his own university’s administration. Seem fair and just.🤷😒

Here is what we need to understand.

Dino did the crime, he is the bad guy. But, criticism of Mack in this situation does not mean support of Dino.

It just looks like a B+ player move in my opinion. A manager can't call an employee in and record them and not report it to a superior. He can't say he was doing the right thing and protecting the program, but doing it in a moronic way that did not have protocols.

Mack hired Dino and they had a falling out. They argued and they were heated. They knew each other. Mack hired the guy and it's his program. He records him and then lets all this stuff come out like an idiot. This could have been handled BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. Get lawyers involved and sign NDA's. We can't afford bad press and it seems Mack made an impulsive move.

Dino was in the wrong, but when you're paid the $$$ Mack is paid to coach at a place like this that's already under the microscope, you're expected to handle things better.

I love UofL basketball but it's just too hard to psycho analyze all these bizarre situations. You could make a movie on this program, or run a mini-series, and get some eyeballs. The sh!t is interesting!

The Cards are kind of stuck in a real annoying garage parking lot line. They'll eventually get outta there, but not nearly as fast as they should.

I know all schools have issues. Player arrests. Sandusky and Nassar happened elsewhere. But I just don't understand why UofL continues to have dramafest after dramafest after dramafest. I don't follow other programs closely but I can't imagine any other program in the country has gone through so many scandals big and small over the same amount of time. Just consider the *2* extortion cases involving 2 different basketball coaches at UofL. Bizarre!

Do we need to self-impose the death penalty for 4 or 5 years just to clean up our school's reputation? If not what is the way out of this chaos?

Mack just got suspended so this is not good for him
This is not good for Tyra also. Nobody knows the names of the ADs at most of the top programs in the country. There is a reason for that, they run clean programs and stay the f@&@ out of the headlines.

I don’t think anyone runs a completely clean program. There are too many ridiculous rules that make that hard. Like athletes going to bed hungry because there not allowed food once the cafeteria closes and they can’t get it from outside sources. Like if an athlete is stuck out in a bad environment and a coach drives by if he picks them up to help it is a violation.

Like if an athlete has a dying family member and a coach helps him get home before they pass it is a violation. Like if there is a virus and if they don’t have enough players to practice coaches practice with the team. So no worries be is innocent of breaking some of these dumb lack of common sense rules.

Not sure Mack is to blame here. Management at most big companies require HR to handle or have a presence whenever an employee is dismissed. Doesn’t seem to be the case here. If no such policy was communicated to Mack why should he be blamed? if Tyra wanted Mack to dismiss his assistants he should have made sure the proper guidelines were followed.

Really? You want to go down the “I didn’t know route?”

There's more to this story. I'll just wait until the rest of it comes out. Procedures for firing in a business are laid out for a reason and followed.

If Mack did not hire Dino. If Mack did not record Dino and take this to the FBI. These could all have been handled much differently.

There's this thing called a HR department. In business you use them for things such as this. Quite simple.

I think one thing is being overlooked here. Not sure but Kentucky is probably a fire at will state. Having said that there must also be good cause. I don’t think you can fire Dino and Murray just because you’re not winning games. They would have to be doing things against the HC, but in this case the HC was not following the rules, no matter how slight we may think they are. You fire someone for dereliction of duty, not because you don’t like them any more. Reduce salary or come to Jesus meeting that we need to make a change.

nc, when a contract expires there is no obligation to renew a contract. Their contract expired in April '21. But again, a HC should use HR and not a tape recorder. That's a come to Jesus moment. Keep ugly inside the business deal. Not advertising to the sports world with a Federal crime.

We don't know if there was work related nicks that caused the contracts talks among AD & HC on these assts, to be a determining factor. Most likely some stuff went down long before and things began to add up. Let's face it things weren't going along smoothly. That is called HR personnel files that the outside world is not suppose to be privy to.

Just a cluster muck!

Were they being fired or just not having their contracts renewed? I wasn't clear on if he was being FIRED or not being renewed, because if he's fired isn't he owed his contractual amount in a buyout anyways?

@PHCARD answered for me, thanks!

But you generally have the talk. See what he has to say and find him a soft landing spot. With all the crap we have going on, Mack just added more to the pile by doing something unnecessary.

Go back and read the news releases from April. We had forgotten small details like the contracts expired in April. I went looking again because details are important. Not that one can believe everything written in print these days. ;)

You are likely correct. However, their contracts are not with Mack, but the University. It is Tyra’s decision not to renew contracts.

Word is VT told CM to do this with HR. Didn’t happen that way. So, now you begin to see what 6 games is about.

Also another point is…you are letting go friends. Nobody wants to do that but why wouldn’t you cover yourself with HR in the room???

A 6 game suspension means something happened. And the issue with the last regime was that the coach was the one in charge and there wasn't a clear chain of command.

Finding out about breaking the practices rules, small potatoes, but when we're recovering and waiting on 2 other scandals you have to be perfect. You record an employee without informing your superiors, big big big mistake. Then the entire PR disaster of taking it to the FBI where it becomes another headline for our program.

I think now after a NIT season and these staff changes and now a 6 game suspension, there's a lot more pressure on Coach Mack. The fans aren't really in love with him, he isn't really a big name where he's accomplished a lot, and now he's made the administration mad. He's not in a great spot. He has to win this year and there needs to be no excuses.

OK I just listened to the audio. At least throwing some thicc women at young dudes to "inspire them" makes sense if you take morals out of it, this makes no sense at all (for the record I am clearly AGAINST what happened Minardi Hall). That audio was some of the dumbest shit I've ever heard. I wouldn't blame Tyra if he FARRRR'd Mack just being being a f'n stupid idiot. I am dumber for listening to that and now I can't add 1+1 which is bad for me because I work in Finance. If I'm a rival coach I'm responding to every question I don't want to answer with "I love you man" on Louisville week. How embarrassing.

Question - did I hear this right - Dino says in the audio that Mack said "I don't want to be here anymore" to which Mack concurred he did say this? I've had bad days at work as well and have said stuff like that I didn't mean, but that's not good optics.

Agreed, but I do not think Mack contacted the FBI. Sounds like the legal department made that call. Not going to make much of a difference by the time this season ends.
