These guys are just reading tea leaves and speculating trying to attract readers and get hits. Very irresponsible considering these teams are still playing and don't need the drama.
Agreed, they shouldn't do that to teams that are still playing. If it works out though, it will be good for everyone involved except Xavier.

If you go to the Xavier message board, there is just no life to rumors that Mack is headed to the Ville. None whatsoever. If it was our board, there would be several threads.
Right - because whether or not Mack wants the job is completely tied to the depth of Xavier’s tournament run - lol.

I agree up to a point - money. If Xavier gets to the FF or beyond, it will be very hard to walk away from your alma mater. Plus they are one of the marquee programs in a BB conference with plenty of exposure on FOX. NTM big city exposure - NYC - Philly - Chicago - DC and a tourney in MSG. This year's tourney run will only help recruiting even more.
OTOH Xavier will only go so high on pay being a private school and our Clown Show has stated a desire to de-emphasize sports. Who knows what will happen on either front?
As for the OP - I have no confidence in anything coming from the Gannett family of fine bird cage liners. They are more interested clicks than journalism.
I did forget that Xavier is Mack's alma mater. I think that plays into it quite a bit.
My point was if Mack is at his Alma mater, respected, paid well, and treated as a king for what he's doing at a school that is well respected by the basketball world.....
Taking the job at UofL to rebuild and restore with expectations of a fairly quick rebuild are tough. Throw in you don't have an official boss or HIS boss on top of it doesn't help much.

As a rival fan he showed a lot of class and a ton of potential.
The MTSU slot is opening. Good tradition, decent payday. Largest on campus University in the State of Tennessee.
Good place to continue learning and growing and still getting attention.

I agree. I think UofL's only chance with Mack right now is by out bidding Xavier. Maybe even by a lot.
I do think if Mack came to UofL he could be a lifer. As long as he has the right bosses.
Out bidding Xavier would not be a problem and as far as the Xavier board not having any activity on the subject is not surprising. There is NEVER activity on the Xavier board, I don’t think they ever have more than 4 fans posting on any subject.

There are the exceptions that comfort is their priority. Personally I don't think Duke would have been considered a destination job before K. Arizona probably wasn't either before Lute Olsen. Was UofL before Hickman or was it Denny that made UofL a destination?
Both Hickman and Crum were coaching Louisville for about 30 years apiece. I guess that would make it a destination job for them.
I'm just saying any school can be a destination job depending who that coach is. If UofL decides they want Mack we'll find out if Xavier is a destination job for him. Of course, UofL is a destination job. I wondered what others thought about Hickman or Crum making UofL a destination job for just about any coach in the country.
I guess we could ask if UK is a destination job considering their last 4 or 5 coaches went on to other jobs.
IDK where they post. They do not call into local talk shows. Their schtick is that they are too busy working, a dig at UC fans. But they do pack the Cintas Center.

This Oliver guy is just status quo internet troll. Its amazing to me that people don’t get it. You can’t respond to something as inane as “treated like a king”. UL can pay Mack 4-5x what he is making now. He would be able to pay his assistants 4-5x as well, and play in an NBA building with the focus of the entire city on game night. He would be able to recruit at letvels he will NEVER be able to at Xavier. Macks’ wife was a legend at Holy Cross, and her family is still here. The UL job is one of the best in the country, with stability and loyalty that is beyond even what UK can offer-we have had 2 coaches in 36 years. The FBI stuff is a sham, and the agency is a political Gestapo that is being exposed as we speak. This is the best job in the country, and it isn’t even close.
