Here is what I've been hearing over the last few days about Louisville targets in Kentucky:
Rivals250 4-star Milton Wright was supposed to take an official visit to Alabama but that was postponed. I have spoken with various sources from Purdue, Louisville, Alabama, and his high school and all indications are that Wright has some work to do in the classroom. This doesn't bode well for Purdue, whose academic course load is more severe than Louisville's. The problem for Wright with Alabama is that the Rivals guys over there say the Tide is all in on flipping five star WR George Pickens from Auburn, and they will probably shut down the WR position if they get him. Also, with him not making the visit, I doubt they are pursuing him at the moment. Process of elimination says that if Wright can get his grades corrected, Louisville or UK have the best shot here, and I would go with the 'Cards over the 'Cats.
JJ Weaver said he is officially visiting Louisville for the WF game and Miami on October 6th. He raved about UK's win over Miss State saying that he can see him playing in Josh Allen's OLB role and that's what the staff is selling him. He stopped just short of naming a leader when we spoke and also assured me that Purdue is still in the running. He has eliminated Tennessee and it looks like Cincinnati is out as well. If I had to pick a spot for him right now I would say UK but the Miami visit looms large and Purdue is still a threat. He did tell me that Louisville is still in the running and to not rule them out. He acknowledged that he sees the ability to get on the field early and contribute but I just didn't get the vibe that he had them at the top of his list.
Last night Jared Casey told me that the visit was cool but he didn't feel like he wanted to commit. I also reached out to a person close to Oregon who said the visit was "cool and Casey loved it" but noted they have a guy at LB who is probably going to commit soon and they made Casey aware of that fact. I also get the vibe that Casey's family wants him closer to home and vibe from multiple conversations with various sources I feel Casey isn't going to Oregon.
That's the good news, the bad news is that Casey told me feels at home every time he visits UK.
He has an official visit set up this weekend for the USCe game. He will bring his mom and dad with him. He's also excited to see what Wisconsin has to offer on his official visit there next week. He told me that a Wisconsin linebacker coach flew in to Louisville to do a background check on him, talking to his coaches, teachers, guidance counselor, and probably a janitor or two. His visit is still on for the weekend of October 6th so it looks like he passed the vetting.
Casey is an early enrollee and will be committing to a school two weeks after his Wisconsin visit. Right now, I would say that choice is going to be UK but it's too early to enter a futurecast because the Wisconsin visit is still looming. He did say that he hasn't eliminated Louisville but from what I've discerned the 'Cards have some work to do to catch up and he didn't mention a visit to S. Floyd.
Finally there is the case of Shawnkell Knight-Goff. I haven't spoken with him because he stays off the grid. Those I have spoken with believe he is most likely to recommit to Kentucky. That comes from other KY prospects and a few sources I have with Kentucky.
