Dang! Jerry Palm doesn't have even making a bowl game

Oklahoma ain't switching coaching staffs, hiring a first year HC and switching QBs to a kid coming off an injury who's never played in a P5 conference and just walking into the playoff in Year 1. I would take Clemson and A&M, and maybe USC over Oklahoma.

Cincinnati loses everyone, is barely ranked and they're making the Cotton Bowl? I mean I know they play a joke schedule but I'm not sure they don't lose 2-3 games this year. The lost their starting QB...a RB who rushed for over 1,300 yards (next closest rushed for 355), their best player on defense and they're #1 WR. We expecting a program like UC to "reload?" Not happening.

Louisville will AT A MINIMUM win 7 games.

I don't mean to play contrarian, but what has UofL shown to warrant any kind of praise? Sure, we as fans expect to be better, but the stench of losing to Air Force in a bowl game is hard to shake. Getting blown out by UK three games in a row is a stench hard to shake. I mean, the highlight of the season last year was a miracle late game interception for a TD against a G5 opponent. If I'm a national prognosticator, I would look at Louisville, too, with little to no optimism.

But, this is something for the locker room. It's motivation. The Cards always do better when no one thinks they'll do anything. Plus, the worst thing to happen if the Cards fall flat, we get a new coach.

You're absolutely right from a black and white standpoint. If you don't put the last two seasons into context then Louisville should absolutely not be getting any sort of praise. But when you put into context how many injuries we had last year, who we have returning, how much we have returning, who we got in the portal, and how close we were to beating teams like Clemson, Wake and UVA then people can rightfully take all of those pieces and assume we SHOULD be much better this year.

The UK game is what it is....Satt's Dad died before the game and for whatever reason I don't feel like our side has cared about it. Like I know they want to win it - but I think its just another game to them under Satterfield. As far as Air Force goes - I never put any stock in those bowls. I rarely even want to watch them so I can imagine the coaches and players have even less desire to play in them. Who gives a shit if you win the French's Mustard Bowl against Tulane? Absolutely nobody and in games where a G5 is playing a P5 the G5 ALWAYS has more motivation and desire in the game.

We have 12 games and 5 are against ranked opponents. Satt’s teams havent shown the ability to beat a ranked team. So then the next criteria would be winning close games on the road. We have Syracuse and UCF to test that right from the start. My guess is we are slight favorites against Cuse and the UCF game is probably a pick’em.

Last year, we made a Bowl only because we played our last 2 conference games against the two worst teams in our league. Our QB looked like LJ against Syracuse and Duke. He looked like Puma against UK. 3 of our 6 wins against Duke, Syracuse, and BC.

This year, we have Syracuse on the road in an opener. This is before the season has beaten them down. And no Duke. BC is a road game too.

The schedule looks really tough.

Maybe our players have improved a lot during the summer, and maybe the portal additions and recruits will help. It just seems like we're set up for a really tough year playing a tough schedule.

I don't think Palm is out of line in his estimation. I just hope he's wrong and we once again squeak into a Bowl, setting up next year's unbelievable recruiting class to sign.

Palm is way out of line because he's not doing his job thoroughly. Louisville could have easily won 9 games last season. There was some bad luck and some calls against good teams. The refs gave Wake 3 points right before halftime. Cards had Virginia beat and was a yard away from beating Clemson.

Palm would use these facts with other teams and with so many talented players returning on both sides of the ball, he should come to the conclusion that Louisville would at least win 6 games.

But he's either lazy or biased and he's certainly an outlier compared to his fellow prognosticators.

The schedule is tough but it's still mostly teams the Cards have a history of beating. WF, Va, NC State and Pitt and they get three of those at Cardinal stadium.

Any real football guru would look at the Cards roster, see all the talent and added depth from last season and easily include they are a winning team. Of course anything can happen with injuries that could derail any team but pundits don't predict that.

Louisville is overdue to have the ball bounce their way and get the benefit of some whistles. There's not one team on the schedule that as a fan I'm scared of. Clemson is not what has been and we don't play Miami who is probably the best team in the ACC.

I predict a 8 and 4 regular season. I will do a game by game prediction soon, maybe today.

Little premature to be talking Bowl opponent selection, as UL will be playing 3 consecutive games against 3 pre-season top 25 teams; two of which remain there. One could argue those 3 are the best on our schedule.

Again, clearly no prediction here, but if by a set of conditions that UL won all 3 ……. UL could be playing on NYD. Aside from the still unexplained performance at BC, the losses to Syracuse and FSU are not considered as bad ones.

Clemson already has clinched our division so there is no way UofL could play in the Orange Bowl. The Cheez-It or Dukes Mayo are the next two top options but Cheez It would likely go to ACC runner up which again we cannot attain. However I think this individual blocked me so please pass this info along to 2330.
