I don’t pay for the Crap Journal and I don’t think any Louisville fan should. When I travel and I am in my hotel room I go online to see what is going on in Louisville. It is obvious that they like putting a negative spin on the home town team in their newspaper.
They keep headlines like “ The latest on the Louisville basketball scandal” online for over a year. Yesterday they put an article headlined “ Former Louisville recruit Sebastian Talfoir ( probably wrong spelling on his name) arrested on gun charges”. He never played for Louisville, never stepped on campus but there is a negative they can connect to us.

Even though this is a local newspaper that continuously attack our University there has to be an explanation. I know most of the sports writers are not from Louisville. I think most of them are B1G graduates and that probably explains why there is so much negativity towards Louisville. I have to conclude that the Editor of the newspaper is not a fan of ours either and he gives the writers free reign to bash us whenever they want.

I don’t understand why Louisville fans would pay for this rag. You can go online and check the headlines and if there is an article that interest you read it for free. After a certain amount of free articles they block you until you pay. Once I was blocked I would read the headlines and then I would google the headline and several articles would come up that I could read for free.
Quit paying for this rag that trashes us every chance they get.

I am almost 57 & I quit paying for CJ about 5 years ago and will not give them a dime. I was a guy that delivered papers as a youngster and was addicted to reading the paper until I couldn't take it any more, the negative slant to UofL and the 2 or 3 UK articles to the 1 UL (and never negative to UK). It hasn't been a good paper for at least 10 years now.

 Yeah...I'm 58; I used to be one of those cover to cover paper edition addict readers myself. And I would write to the CJ editor about the unfairness of UofL vs UK coverage too.

I think the salacious headlines today are just a product of the online age. They need to grab the reader's attention/interest in order to get the click for the reader to actually read the article. It's clickbait. And bad news has always been a bigger attention grabber than good news. Hard to say how many readers these days would even recognize the name Sebastian Telfair if they didn't explain his tie to Louisville.

I'm 62 and kicked them out 3-4 yrs ago. I loved my puzzles and kept paying for puzzles. This is what tipped it for me. It's Saturday and we have a Louisville Football going on later that day. I get to the front page of the Sports section (? or so called) and there is a story on BP's son being gay. I was livid! What local newspaper thinks it's their place to do a story on this type of info? Only the CJ. When I finally got a hold of someone half way important Monday morning, I was still spitting nails. I chewed a$$ for 10 minutes. I'm angry just typing this.

I’ll be 62 this month! Today’s article is Rick Pitino wouldn’t mind coming back to Louisville because he loves U of L fans and U.K. fans. It’s the 7 or 8 people he has issues with...
it does say that he came back to the states to support one of his grandchildren.

A friend of mine from Nashville noticed the rather hefty slant the sports page has towards Ky. He asked me if it was the Lexington paper.

The C-J stands out from the Nashville or Indy papers because we don’t have pro teams. Colts, Titans, Pacers, and Preds grab a lot of space. The other difference is those papers don’t slant anything between IU or Purdue, Tennessee or Vandy.

The C-J knows the low brow mentality of the average Ky fan, so they bash us and pump sunshine for Ky.

I am 65 and quit about 2 years ago. They call about every other day with offers and I tell them why I cut them off.

I hope I didn't offend anybody bringing age into this, I'm no young guy... I know my father still gets the CJ and I just think he does it out of habit.

I was in Louisville the last couple of weeks caring for my elderly mother. Got to check out the CJ sports section every day (it was delivered to the home of the family friend where mom is staying). There were plenty of articles on UofL football and basketball. And it seemed to me that there were about an equal number of UK articles.

I did notice a proofreading mistake in an article about a promising UofL outside linebacker (Nick Okeke). The headline said “OL” instead of “LB” or “ OLB”.

I could understand the mistake occurring in the body of the article, but to see it in the headline of the article was both shocking and disappointing.

I’m 76 (recently). My father retired from the CJ back in the ‘70s. I worked there for 6 or 7 years back in the 60’s and my brothers and I had paper routes from the time I was 7 until I was 18. I still do the puzzles but I rarely ever read anything of note in what I call the curious urinal. It is crap and a totally uahkay centric newspaper and I believe it’s because of the School of Journalism at uahkay. The Bingham family ran an outstanding newspaper but two things happened; one, the Gannett buyout and, two, the Bingham family feud between Barry, Jr and his sister. That completely tore asunder the Bingham business empire here in Louisville.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

Haven’t had a CJ subscription for 15 years. Today all you need is the Twitter app, follow a ton of local/national media (Demling, Crawford, Bozich, Forde, etc, etc) and pro-Cardinal sites. Mix in your local TV stations (WAVE 3, WDRB, etc) and some national networks (CNN, CBS, NBC) and you have a modern day version of your old CJ.

Anytime a paper is laying around at work the headlines and articles are stories I’ve usually read 24-48 hours earlier on my phone.

Those bastards will never get another penny of my money. I hope the CJ goes belly up tomorrow!

He does. I bet most subscribers of the delivered paper version are 65 and older. Just habit and don’t like modern cell phones.

My parents call me to get the scores and details or to find out when they are on TV. They cuss and fuss about the CJ, but will not get rid of it. I get mail from the CJ for my brother that passed away 3 yrs ago. They might want to change their mailing lists.

Could be something about them having a quick breakfast at home with the CJ open to whatever portion of the paper they are interested in. It's kind of funny.

I stopped reading it decades ago honestly. I trust the community here that says it's gone way downhill and has a major axe to grind against UofL. Feels like they were pretty rough on Denny I recall Forde just going after the hoops program and really ever since then for me I'd just rather spend my time reading something else.
