Could the Brohm to ul talk actually hurt recruiting?

I'd think it would hurt Brohm if he ends up staying at Purdue. I think it hurts Bobby's recruiting if he keeps his job at ul.

Well, it never did you all any good.

And you might want to start worrying about YOUR coach.

If he somehow wins the $EC and gets an offer, do you think he’s going to stay somewhere the fan base camps out to wait for BB practice to start?

I don't think it matters as far as this years class is concerned.

We're going to be taking a small class regardless so if Petrino somehow manages to keep his job then this class is what it is....a rough one.

If Brohm gets it I have absolutely 0 doubts that the class will pick up some better players in his first 2 months on the job. Specifically i think Brohm would land both Milton and Weaver out of Louisville and those 2 would automatically be better than any kid Petrino currently has.

So basically, the talk isn't doing anything to hurt Louisville at this point. This class is what it is if Petrino is kept, we're not getting JJ Weaver, we're not getting any higher ranked kids and we're probably not losing any. Its only hurting Purdue as I would assume most kids have heard the media speculate that Brohm to Louisville might just happen.

For the record, Jeff has stated that when the rumors to Tennessee were heavy last year he actually saw it improve recruiting.

of course its not hurt Purdue's recruiting yet. Why would it affect the commitments of the kids they currently have? I mean Petrino is still bringing recruits in to Louisville every weekend and I know the current commits aren't stupid. They see Twitter, they see the internet...they know Petrino is likely to be fired and yet still Louisville hasn't had any decommits either, why? Because these kids are waiting to see how things play out...and also, lets be honest here. The bulk of the kids that Louisville and Purdue currently have committed, don't have a ton of options. The ones that do know if they're coach is fired they can go somewhere else and the rest know they're probably stuck regardless unless they want to go to a much smaller program because even if a larger or equal P5 school had offered them...they're unlikely to still have a spot for them at this point.

I would be curious to see if any kids commit between now and the end of the year. They might, I mean kids still commit to coaches that are heavily rumored to be fired or to be taking another job sometimes too.

The small class makes the timing good for a new coach. I don't think the current class will switch if Brohn is hired so they will probably take the wait and see approach. They may actual like the idea of Brohm being coach. Some have no options better than Louisville. Keeping Petrino, which may happen, could absolutely kill the 2020 class if it is as epically bad as we think. He would basically be a dead man walking after game 1 next year.

Too much uncertainty right now and we lose several due to xfer or decomm. So to answer OP question, I will say Yes.

Recruits probably read these boards and see some fans saying we cannot afford buyout and decide to leave since it looks like there may not be a change. Cant blame em, head someplace where there is stability.

Maybe the decom but not Jordon Travis. His father said he wasn’t happy here. I suspect the losing record has more to do with the decomit.

I think Bobby will still be at Louisville next year. This is his only bad year.
As a rival fan you hope....you will be brought back down to reality next year when you suck again as usual. See...you guys have one decent season every 15 years or so, we have one bad season every 10 years or so , see how that works? Enjoy this season though, as history says, it will be a while before you can enjoy anything like this again.
