Here’s an idea. If we’re hurting for money, the next coach starts out with a base of 3-3.5M. Incentive bonus of $250k for every NCAA tournament win. That would put them at a max of $4.5-5M. This would be the set up if you get like a Dusty May.
Obviously base would have to be higher if you go with a bigger name coach.
Also, buyout to fire if they are failing is 1-1.5 years salary (3-4.5M)
This type of contract should be the norm in college sports. The scales have been tipped too far in the favor of the coaches. It’s ridiculous.
