No way. Indiana did this and after initial short term success, it set their program back 20+ years. Don’t follow the same road IU went down. From what I have seen, I would take Pegues over Kenny Payne in a heartbeat. He now has Div I head coaching experience and the players seem to love the guy. Plus, no connection to UK.
IMO - The connection to uk is the one thing about Payne’s candidacy that shouldn’t be a factor. From what I have seen, I would take Pegues over Kenny Payne in a heartbeat. He now has Div I head coaching experience and the players seem to love the guy. Plus, no connection to UK.
Oh, then his two years at Oregon should qualify him for our job. Right.IMO - The connection to uk is the one thing about Payne’s candidacy that shouldn’t be a factor.
No - I’m saying his 10 years at uk shouldn’t be used as a negative against him. But, you knew that’s what I meant already.Oh, then his two years at Oregon should qualify him for our job. Right.
Oops, guess my agenda is showing. No - I’m saying his 10 years at uk shouldn’t be used as a negative against him. But, you knew that’s what I meant already.
What do you think now of that statement. The interim normally isn't the route to take...From what I have seen, I would take Pegues over Kenny Payne in a heartbeat. He now has Div I head coaching experience and the players seem to love the guy. Plus, no connection to UK.
Or his relationship with Beard and Eaves ?Enjoy hearing the opinions, but my take is very simple ….. the fans (UL that is) will have nothing to do with who gets hired. Alice and Jr have both served on the BoT, and they have a huge amount of credibility. I expect they could very well influence the Board to follow their recommended choice. It would be political suicide for anyone running for public office to argue against the Houston family, or Jr Bridgeman on this issue.
I was totally against KP being considered as a candidate for the UL job, primarily due to his distance from UL since graduating, and his relationship with Calipari. With that said, the Houston, Bridgeman partnership changes everything for me. They know Payne, they know the National Basketball community professionally, as well as High School & College and their combined business experience can insure success.
I urge my fellow UL fans to put aside the feelings you may have about Payne’s lack of HC experience, or his relationship with UK; instead get behind the Houston/Bridgeman Team.
