"It doesn't mean anything," Payne told Cardinal Authority in a one-on-one interview last week when asked about programs that send out dozens of offers in each recruiting class. He said the Cardinals have not and will not be that way moving forward.

"That offer also means that I have done my homework on you," Payne said. "I know your mother. I know your father. I know your support group.

"This is real. This isn't just I saw you get 20 points and now I am going to throw you an offer This is a relationship that's going to be built on honesty and trust on both sides. It's not just a blanket offer. This offer means something."
