Very saddened to hear my former coach passed away after a battle with Alzheimer's. The man was a class act that represented a time when I think it's safe to say that high school sports was more pure. A time when there was room for average athlete like myself to be coached up to play at a high level by caring coaches that were willing to invest in your personal development. I can't think of anyone I have met in my life that better balanced the competitive desire to win with a genuine caring and development of his student athletes; regardless of their importance to the program. I am so grateful to have played in the era before social media branding, star ratings, crystal ball predictions and televised college announcement hat picks. I was just able to observe and learn from a man that loved his family, his players, his school, and hunting and fishing....not sure hunting and fishing didn't fall second after his family. Rest well coach and thank you for being a stellar example.
