Explain what the hell is going on with BVG and this defense. We are entitled to a thorough explanation.
While the overall team performance has been shockingly bad, and that includes special teams. This defense has been well beyond horrible ............. it has been as close to totally absent as it could get. Admittedly the offense has been a huge disappointment, but it has been the defense that eliminated any chance of salvaging this season. Not just the points or yardage we have yielded ......... it is the lack of fundamental tackling and being out of position.
Todd Grantham’s departure and Pete Sirmon’s arrival was never explained, and I personally have a hard time attributing that exchange of DCs to “WakeyLeaks” as some reported. Grantham may not have enjoyed the level of success some on this board expected, but looking back there should be no doubt that much of this debacle can be traced to his departure.
In the pre-season you talked about our improved team speed, how “Puma in some respects was better than Lamar” and the high expectations for our receivers & TEs. What I thought at the time was your loudest message was your total silence about Van Gorder and his work on the defensive side of the football. I do not recall a single time that you mentioned BVG’s name, or what affect he brought to this team’s defense.
