Cats still trending upward?

Do you remember, back in August when Towles said................."I think we can get to Atlanta," Towles told a national audience, referencing the site of the SEC championship game. "I can say that with as much confidence as I've got. We've got the pieces in place. We've got the coaches, and we've got the guys. I'm confident in my receivers, my offensive line and my defense. We've got leaders all around, and I have no doubt in my mind that we have the talent to get to Atlanta." LOLOLOLOLOL your too funny young man. :):):)

I wish someone would post that calendar of UK football where everyone is all mindlessly enthusiastic in the summer but reality gradually sets in until that one poor guy is sitting in a depressed stupor in November or December.

Watching Stooper on the sideline was my first picture of him sporting a deer in the headlights look. I have to believe this game gave him real fear. Barker probably should have started the second half - or the 2nd Quarter, if for no other reason, to give the fan base something else to piss and moan about.

Dead man walking.

UK serves 2 purposes for top programs in the SEC:

1. They are a team to get well against. After fighting tough battles against quality teams and coming up short, who is better than UK to see next week on the schedule when you need a win to get back on track? How many wins did Tennessee rack up over the years when they played UK (and Vandy) their final two games? Both Auburn and Georgia used UK for this purpose, this season. UT did as well, coming off the tough loss to Alabama.

2. UK serves as an indicator that a coach at a top program is either over the hill (Spurrier) or not getting the job done (Dooley at UT, Gerry DiNardo at LSU, etc).

Even when UK is at the point where they can win 6 or 7 games, the top teams in the SEC will always see UK as either #1 or #2.

Still the laughing stock of the SEC.Even with all those great players from Ohio the The Ohio State U didn't want, much less Youngstown State.

None of this is a surprise to anyone willing to post in this thread. What puzzles me is each year when some of OUR OWN FANS drink the same blue Kool Aid. I and others end up arguing not just with LPT fans on their upcoming season. Why do a few people here keep getting sucked into the myth of LPT football on the rise?...

I'm at the point where UK is going to have to prove it to me before I give them any credit. Year after year their sunshine pumpers crow about upcoming 7-9 win seasons. For me, I'm going to have to see sustained success over multiple years before I give their program any credit whatsoever. Until they start beating Top 25 teams that finish the year in the Top 25, I'm not buying that their program is going to a "new level".

Having said that, I see where people are coming from. When you look at the long term view, every dog has its day. Sooner or later UK will go back to a Bowl, because the bar is so low for going to a Bowl. We've seen all the traditional bottom feeder teams go to Bowls, most since 2000: Kansas, Duke, IU, Kentucky, Vandy, Baylor, and a few others. UK is going to go to a bowl again, maybe even this year.

But in the end, their program is still a toy for the semi-pro teams in the SEC. Just a bowl is their ceiling as a program. That's not likely to change.

Wasn't their chant during summer camp "SEC Champs!"
I also recall Boom predicting them winning the SEC East.

Their talent on defense is horrendous. I mean seriously. Matt Elam, you know that 5 star DL that is 125 lbs overweight even with that superior weight training program. Give me a break man

That one coaching and on that staff...we know that CBP and CCS if he was here would not have Elam at that weight...and they way they don't put their players in position to succeed on offense is amazing...

That is not talent; that is performance. Talent is the potential to do great things. I might be misreading things, but I think most of us agree the talent is there. It is being badly developed and badly used.
Even the most successful professional athletes use coaches and skill development exercises to make the best use of their talent.

Serious question for UK fans: Were tshirts made for any of the wins this year? (Or even the moral victory over Florida)

I heard this ad nauseum all summer that this program is trending up.

But they beat TWO SEC teams this year!!! They might even beat THREE. How is that not trending up?

Don't even bring up the facts that the first, USCjr have let their head coach go; the second, Mizzou, is in the middle of school wide chaos; and the third win, potentially, is Vanderbilt. They just want to believe.

Yes, they are still trending up. Hell, the cats are only 4 pt. dogs to a 3-6 Vandy team, which by the way is tied with USCjr. for the worst record in the SEC, all three teams being in the SEC East. Usually, the cats would be at least 5 pt. dogs in that scenario. That's up baby...UP!

Go Cards!

What about the 15 NFL prospects on D alone? Surely that's enough to prevent a team playing a one armed RB at QB from destroying you. (Some clown really said that)

Six weeks ago Vegas had UK as a 1 1/2 point favorite, now Louisville is a 7 point favorite. That kind of change usually on happens due to a key injury, which isn't the case here.
