FB RECRUITING: Carson Hilbert Commits

With NIL/Portal, the kicker-punter positions shouldn't be an issue anywhere anymore. IT's the hardest position to judge from high school, but you can easily go poach the best ones from G5 and FCS or even D2.

And with more scholarships to give now, you can give all these local kids a spot too.

I like getting the local kids in all sports especially if they good athletes. Like I have said before our best years have always been when we have the best athletes from not only Louisville but from the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Imagine Satterfield's tenure if Bobby had left him with Desmond Ridder as an option at QB?

But the state hasn't really given us too many greats outside of the 502, it just doesn't produce enough and we could get some borderline guys in the CUSA days, but the P4 level guys all get taken by Kentucky or go out of state. Which is surprising considering there are a good amount of Louisville fans in Bowling Green and we never usually get those guys, which the BG area has been producing more talent than the 502 it feels like for the last decade.

Pete Nochta though is our best Non-502 Louisville recruit ever, solely for what he's doing right now lol.
Cole Bently & Kyle Bolin are the most recent ones I remember.

I'm pretty sure I remember that Gavin Wimsatt had a brother that committed to us years ago?

We had the Kupper brothers, the Brohm’s, Will Stein and others from Trinity. We had the good athletes from Male and St. X. We also had good players from Ballard and Manual. We have had some really good players from out in the state. I do agree that we do not have enough good players state wide.
If we start winning big on the level we did under Petrino the first time and Strong I think we will see a shift in where athletes in Kentucky go. Brohm could use the argument that Louisville will have a better chance of getting to the playoffs than sUcK

I just can’t point to many if any players from Kentucky that weren’t from Louisville the last 25 years or so

There weren’t many but there were some good ones. Like you I can’t remember their names. I know we have discussed the fact on this board that the public schools in Louisville don’t produce as many athletes like they used to in the past. Why athletics in the public school system is in decline is a mystery to me.
