Cards open as a 2 point favorite

There have been some extremely disappointing losses this year, but even during those games there was moments where these Cards showed resilience.

I said this before and I will repeat it once again; beating UK a will go a long way towards regaining the recruiting momentum in Jefferson Co; something that we have missed for several years in a row. Go Cards!!!

I am not going to try and relive the most recent losses to UK in football, but I can recall the 2019 beat down, and how I think it could serve as an indication as to why UL is favored in this 2021 contest.

The first half of 2019 was a close contest, with the Cats leading 17-13 at the half. The second half UL was outscored 28-0, and it was as lopsided as the score indicated. UL’s defense was not only talent-challenged, there was virtually zero depth and it was evident that our kids were gassed by the end of the first half.

I gave up predicting winners and losers when I quit gambling, but I am confident from having witnessed the exceptional improvement in UL’s defensive depth over these last 2 years, to say that despite UK’s vaulted “Big Blue Wall”, the Cats will not enjoy the huge advantage they had on the LOS back in 2019.

Lastly, UK’s defense will experience a Cardinal Offensive Line, WRs and Backfield speed that is quite comparable to that of Tennessee and/or MSU. I think Satterfield learned a valuable lesson from the unsuccessful 4 down play calling against Clemson in the final 4th quarter offensive series. I believe those close losses will serve as a profitable learning experience Saturday.

Didn't we also have a bunch of guys sick with the flu in that game?

Something is not right with this spread . I wouldnt' touch it and personally i'm not confident in winning. I base alot of my games on an opponnets lines and ours still isn't up to snub especially on the defense if a team chooses to smash mouth us. As i suspect they will try and do with alot of play action. We have to get a pass rush but Levis is a sneaky runner so discipline is key.

That was a bad matchup for us no matter what the health of the team was; UK formationed us to death and it would have been merciful if they decided to pass the ball. Raise your hand if you remember anyone on our defensive front then or our safeties; I believe by that point Yeast had gotten hurt and we were even smaller than we are now in the defensive front.

...that said, despite having very different personnel in our defensive front seven and our offensive lines, the statistical end result is very similar. One thing I go back to in what extended stretch I've watched UK is how Florida completely broke with their running game as their pregame gameplan when they came into that game very productive on the ground.

You are 100% correct Card Rock, and I always respected Satterfield for not using our team illness as the most legitimate excuse that it was. Our defense was missing a bunch of starters, and those who dressed were less than 100%. Some suggested it was from the pregame meal, but that was never confirmed.

And the so called "rumor" was that the meal was either handled or furnished by uahkay sources. Again, that was not confirmed.

GO CARDS!!!

Yeah, rivals don’t usually admit we gave you food poisoning. 🤔

Recruiting the South is more important than recruiting KY. Not to say there may be a player or two every year to consider. (but not many)
