A little suprised, but then again Texas A&M rose six spots last week despite
going 2-1.

We are better than the rankings and everyone knows it. Most everyone understands this team is right now good enough to be ranked higher, and those same people know this is a team nobody will want to play in the NCAA tournament.

This team has a chance to become very special, but of course that all goes out the window if the injury bug strikes. If everyone stays healthy, we'll be NCAA championship contender good.

We will lose several games during the season (5/6), I know that we can match up with anyone come tournament time.

Polls are ultimately meaningless... everyone still has to play (and win) their games. At this point in the year, it is a crap shoot and current rankings largely hing on (a) where you were previously ranked, (b) how much media coverage you are getting, and (c) pure conjecture/opinion.

All true.

It would be such a luxury to have a major sports network that would focus on one conference more than others. That maybe that sports network would have its own sports channel dedicated to just one conference . If such a thing were ever to happen, then the media coverage angle would be slanted along with conjecture and opinion from the employees who work for the network. The hype could be unimaginable.

Oh if only there were such a network.

At this points rankings mean very little. If we would have beat MSU we we be #1? Doubt it. We played them closer than Kansas on their home floor. Should we be ranked higher than Kansas? Pre-Season rankings are based soley on what writers think and has very little to do with how good a team is. We lost 4 starters and multi-year rotation/starters off last years team. Nobody knew what type of player Lee would be. What's funny is Wayne was a McDonalds AA and Lee was a 2/3 star player.

That is true cardsfan53, and if anyone would have stepped up and helped Wayne in the tourney last year this could have been different. It was like he was playing MSU by himself, we would moved on.

I wasnt trying to down Wayne in anyway. I thought Wayne had a very solid career. My point was to point at how good a player Lee has been. And none of that was considered when we started the season unranked, as to how effective Lee and Lewis would be.

Sorry cardsfan53 I took that the wrong way. Wayne got blasted by so many fans, just gets under my skin. We are blessed to have those two young men. And we need them.

No problem!! I was just pointing to the fact that a lot of rankings this early are very hard to determine. Our team is mostly a bunch of unknowns before the season started, therefore we weren't ranked.
