The California college system has the largest enrollment in the USA. Yesterday, it cancelled students on campuses for the fall 2020 semester, including sports. Also, Dr. Fauci of the US Center for Disease Control said that football contact spreads the coronavirus.

The NFL may or may not play but college football looks very iffy. All the schools that have California schools on their schedules will have cancelled dates.

Good grief Fauci might be tar and feathered for that comment

FAuci needs to sit down and shut up.

He’s an “expert” at flip flopping.

In March this was “no problem, and non-communicable”

Then, it’s going to explode and kill millions.

Now, according to ABC news, he says nobody needs masks.

He hasn’t been “right” about anything.

He may have served six administrations but his is his first (thankfully) pandemic, and hopefully his last, because he’s swung and missed too many times.

What's True
During a Feb. 29, 2020, interview, Dr. Fauci said that at that time and under the circumstances pertaining to that date, Americans didn't need to change their behavior patterns.

What's False
However, Fauci did not say there was "nothing to worry about," and although he stated that Americans did not yet need to change their behaviors, he noted that what was then classified as the COVID-19 outbreak could require that to change.

From March 2020: Dr. Anthony Fauci said based on modeling of the current pace of the coronavirus' spread in the U.S., "between 100,000 and 200,000" people may die from COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

I believe to make Dr. Anthony Fauci a “political football” is the incorrect thing to do. His concerns are based on facts that the covid19 virus is, in fact, spreading. It only follows that people playing football in close contact are at a higher risk to spread this disease. I’m hoping for a football season but if the “curve” doesn’t flatten somewhat then we’ll be hard pressed to watch college football this coming fall. Testing and less contact between humans is the proven best way to flatten the curve.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

The only good thing to come of this is MAYBE the American people have had enough of a socialist/communist society to know they don’t want it permanently.

I’m curious just exactly what what some of the “factoligists” have lost during this shutdown to this point. Or maybe some of you like it because the government is paying you twice your salary?

I’d venture you are yet to lose something, but what have you “lost” now?

Admittedly, I’ve only lost about 25% of my wages, but I chose to stay vs getting furloughed and making about 200% more than I am working.

But that’s another thread about how much taxes will be increased to pay everyone for not working.

FWIW, I actually know ONE person who’s had the bug. He’s a Brain cancer survivor and a melanoma survivor.

Now he’s a CV19 survivor.

Oh well. Carry on.

Not sure if this was directed at me but since I responded to your post perhaps it was. I’m a small business owner so rest assured this situation has cost me significantly. However as a business owner I also know about trying to make a thousand decisions with limited empirical data and little time to make those thousand decisions. So I respect the difficulty of the situation for those decision-makers trying to keep the general population safe. I think had we been given a lengthy “heads up” about this virus different decisions would’ve been made. However we didn’t have that luxury. As the data becomes more robust, I think it’s even more logical to listen to science and then filter that into sound policy.

well if we are going to talk about what people said and when, our pres said was only a few cases from china and we were fine. said will magically all go away. said maybe drink bleach to kill from the inside of your body. said economy more important than deaths. said kids don't get. and has refused science at every turn. because he always knows more than the rest of us.
i wish simply that those who want to return to normal without masks or social distancing should be tagged and if they get sick they do not get to go to the hospital and if they make anyone else sick they have to pay all of those peoples medical bills and lost wages. that's how it should be. you should be forced to be responsible for your actions but no one ever is.
my wife works in the hospital and has to deal with morons everyday and it's fffing annoying to have her be wrapped head to toe in ppe's only to come out of the hospital and see morons everywhere shopping without masks and ignoring social distancing. i hope all of you don't get sick but if any of you do i hope to god to come back and apologize to everyone everywhere for you ignorance

We tried to curb this thing to not overrun the healthcare system, it worked. Now our worry should be on the economy. If our economy failed the impact of this virus wouldn’t even be a drop in the bucket compared to the suffering that would cause. We need to get back to normal as far as the economy is concerned. We can still care for the demographic this virus is a real threat to without destroying the US economy.

This post maybe the dumbest thing I’ve read in a long time. Amazing there are people out there that are so easily brainwashed by mass media.

Wash your hand frequently, social distance and wear masks and we should be able to get things moving in the right direction.

While there’s no substitute for more time - I disagree that the federal government and the administration did not receive a “heads up” in time to have made substantially better preparations. Multiple sources within the administration were raising the alarm about the potential devastation of this pandemic in January. Rather than taking proactive steps to prepare even at the most basic level - like increasing PPE stock levels and creating a coordinated response with the states - the federal government decided instead to be reactive which exacerbated the situation.

It’s what you get when the people in charge don’t believe in the ability of government and as a result, don’t know how to make it work properly in times of national crisis.

No doubt time was completely squandered and in large part because the administration didn’t want to upset the stock market.

Im appalled at the number of racists on this board.

To ridicule the Italians, French, Spainiards, and others is just...just...appalling.

The WORLD had “warning” about this killer pandemic with a 98% recovery rate.
