Butler’s Watkins...Now a Card!

Who knows how good he is but if his speed is legit then that plays at this level. If he commits then they have two wrs that can fly in this class. That fits the App St model, find speed and develop it. As long as speed and quickness are legit star ratings don't matter with a kids willing to be developed.

I feel the need for speed. Best quote in 'Top Gun' the movie. I hate to confess this....but I am a big fan of Tom Cruise.

Fly Away into the Danger Zone is one of my top picks for the Cards to start using as an intro song....since Cardinals rule the 'No Fly Zone' onto victory.

A fellow can dream can't he? Old school and a little too cheesy for some...but it was a great song in its day. Gets ya fired up!!!

“This is Maverick, requesting a fly-by”.

Great movie. Sequel coming in December correct?

If we had an 80’s retro night, with unis from the 80’s, I would be all about this song!lol

As far as intro’s go, I think Mother by Danzig would get the place going.

“We were inverted.”

“What were you doing while inverted with a Russian MIG?”

“We were communicating.”

Let’s go! Beat dem Dekes!

In relation to FB

Maverick: "You don't have time to think up there. If you think, you're dead."

Our D needs to react. Not think

And they’ll be fine ;)

Our defense just has to trust the scheme, do their job, don’t have mental lapses, and we’ll be fine. I think they get better every game, and coaches are still learning too what players to trust the most at crunch time. I expect the defense to step up big today.

I once recalled being a rookie and learning the new calls. Coach simply said, if you fear you don’t know what the hell you're doing on a play then find the closest player and put a hit on him.

It’ll come. The speed is there. Learning to react and not think through things is the truest thing stated here so far.

Probably the oldest “rule” in FB.

And it’s amazing how many times it “works” and the effect on the opponent.
Funny. The guy mentioned Danger Zone, that movie was in full swing, and yep, we dared them to cross inside the danger zone. Sounds a bit corny, but man some serious hits. Absolutely miss the trash talking, smack too.

If I recall right, one of the most jarring hard hitting games was the Cards at West Virginia in yesteryears. Man, every other play was a pop! Around ‘06 I believe. Hardest hitting game I’ve ever witnessed our D delivered.

Watkins commits to Louisville.

Jordan Watkins decided he wants to stay in the south end after all. After decommitting from the rival Kentucky Wildcats a little over two weeks ago, Watkins has shut his recruitment back down and given his pledge to Louisville. The Cards' on-field product this season, specifically their offensive explosion, was the key to landing Watkins.

"Louisville really started to change my mind about UK right after the Boston College game. By playing a really good team (the way they did) I got to see how coach Satterfield's offense would really work. I think their offense is super electrifying (whether) running or throwing the ball," said Watkins.

Boston College was the first true ACC foe Scott Satterfield and staff faced. They produced three-one hundred yard receivers that day. Watkins was in the stands for Boston College and the day before he spent eight hours on campus hosted by receivers coach Gunter Brewer.

"The coaches are great people to be around and I felt that I could spend the next three to four years around them," proclaimed Watkins.

Watkins backed off his pledge to Kentucky five days after the Boston College game.

In the war of perception that is college football recruiting Louisville has gained some in-state momentum back with the delayed flip of Jordan Watkins from Kentucky. Last season Kentucky won the battle going 3-0 on prospects both schools were recruiting landing Jared Casey, JJ Weaver, and Tae Crumes. Technically you could say Kentucky went 4-0 if you count Doss athlete Shawnkell Knight-Goff but he quit football a week ago so do what you will with that. This year Kentucky is 2-1 with Kentucky landing Male receiver Izayah Cummings and Christian Academy of Louisville offensive tackle John Young while Louisville just flipped Watson. Had Kentucky signed the trio of Cummings, Young, and Watson they would have put up back-to-back years of dominance but Louisville has closed the gap for the moment.

Watkins becomes the 24th verbal commitment of the 2020 class.

The only other local player they have that I'd love to see flip is John Young. We gotta be done recruiting wr's. Watkins makes 5 commitments. With what we have returning we have plenty. We need to use our last few schollies on linemen or secondary personnel . love our class though.
I have no doubt in my mind that next years class will be even better. I'm thinking if we finish this season with a solid 7-5 or 8'4 record, go to a nice bowl and win . Our "2021" recruiting class will be impressive. I love it.

This year is a great example of the importance of a really good OLine. Speed doesn’t matter if there aren’t holes or QB doesn’t have time. The number of explosive plays this year all starts with the OLine.

Seems like a kid with lots if speed. Not sure if Stoops will ever be comfortable with kids that can stretch the field.
Best of luck to him.

Flipping him would be great but, more for perception than anything else. After having seen him play - and the competition that he faces most weeks - I doubt Young lives up to the hype. It’s all for naught anyway - he and his family have been huge uk fans for quite a while. He was going to uk as soon as Trey offered - he just wanted to enjoy taking other official visits.

Obviously, he didn’t think he could hack it in the $EC.

Ky is just a few 5 stars away from Catlanta every year, baby!
It rationalization central over there.
-“Not a flip - mutual decision on uk’s part”
-“Other than uk and UofL, he didn’t have any good offers - we’ll be ok”
-“Not that good - just opens up a spot for a better player”
“Was afraid of the sec competition where LBs are 6’4”-250 and are as fast as he is”
“Too many tough games per year here - would rather go to play in a shitty conference”
And my personal favorite - “saw our roster at WR and realized he wouldn’t get on the field”.

Lol - everyone knows uk is WR university.

At least they can’t use that ole “he didn’t have a commitable offer from UK” line for this one.

You could post a fake story on their board about a player flipping from UK to UofL and UK fans would post the exact same responses.

Louisville Butler’s Watkins withdraws commitment from Kitties. Love it.

I think we are seeing the beginnings of the effect CSS and his staff will have on local recruiting. They are great people and great coaches kids are going to want to play for him, they know when a coach truly cares for them vs just trying to get them on campus.
