BREAKING! Josh Heird is the guy!!

giphy.gif

Great news. Josh is all business and has been quietly getting the job done.

Starting now, I'm trying even harder to enjoy baseball and women's basketball--the last two big time programs we will likely have for a long time...

UL Baseball, and UL women‘s Volleyball and women’s Basketball have indeed provided a great deal of enjoyment and sense of accomplishment for this University. I for one have a lot of confidence that Men’s Basketball and Football are going to return to respectable levels very soon.

Josh deserves this opportunity, along with our support.

We will see. He learned from one of the best but he is going to do things his way.
Hopefully the boosters in the Jurich camp come back and support the department.

How much did that cost us ?
regretfully, doesn't matter as search had to be done as school didn't want an interim AD hired w/o due process. since everyone complained about Tyra's hiring w/o a search, they had to do the search just for appearances. and couldn't have an interim president make the hire. now the same process will play out for the pres position. but honestly, no reason not to keep JH, the fact no leaks have come out of the AD's office is great. and so far, heard none of the bs that TJ always threw around. so to me Great hire.

hopefully they don't, and we succeed without them all. let them keep kissing TJ's stained and dirty ass, the world moves on and so has the school. they're living in maga land, the land of fantasy, lies, and unreality.

Other fans around here can probably weigh in with more knowledge than me on this but...

I thought I saw where the football program was recruiting at a high level for 2023 never seen before? Billboards up from the fam for the CA QB and a big recruit yesterday?

I guess we probably need to wait until they sign but I see a lot of enthusiastic fans about the football recruiting?

The fall of both Basketball and Football is tied directly to recruiting.

In football they misevaluated what it took to be great in the ACC. Plus Covid cut backs hurt their efforts. He made some really good hires and moves on the staff which are paying off. With that said he has to win 7 games this year. If he does and the class stays together he will be on his way.

Basketball-Mack proved not to be ready for the challenges of Louisville. He didn’t recruit or develop kids. Payne way too early to tell. This 1st year will be a challenge and have to see what 2023 brings.

I believe Adidas and the NIL with them is another big factor.
It can't be denied the recruiting is going on a massive uptick here for football. I'm not sure they make it to campus, I understand things change.

I think being a large city w/o pro franchises is giving UofL a nice boost on NIL. I know we lost Hunter in bball to TX but I just can't help but notice the football recruiting and given the NIL impact I think it's fair to be optimistic.

He's the closest thing to Jurich as we are going to get. I love Tom, but even I knew it was not a good idea to bring him back. Hierd has earned the gig. Regarding certain boosters, that's tricky. All we can do is wait and see.

The only reason it wasn't a good idea to bring Jurich back is that the culture around him was apparently not going to change, i.e., clowns. Jurich could not have worked for that clan, and he probably knows that better than anyone. In many respects now with what U of L athletics has become, it did Jurich a favor brushing him aside with a full buyout.

But for better or worse, Josh Heird is no Jurich nor will he be for a long time. The guy made his mark under Tyra as a hatchet man. He has no fund raising experience, and he will stand in a room of people by himself. The guy has little presence, charisma or personal charm. And until this role, that's not how he was being developed nor was it important in the prior roles he served.

Unlike Heird's predecessor who was a miserable failure, Heird has been handed the keys to an old car that barely runs. You gotta be mighty hopeful that he can get it running well again when you consider what he brings to job...

Couple of weeks the IARP meeting we can finally start the future punishment process and move forward . With a new AD and BB coach . The fb program is having good things going at present. Why would anyone want to go backwards from this? Maybe they need not be a U of L fan any more or were they ever?

I’m my opinion, U of L athletics is heading in the right direction. Football is killing it in recruiting, KP and his coaching staff bringing Milt back, and baseball back where it belongs. Not to mention WBB and volleyball.

I haven’t read the letter but a friend called me and said there was a letter released by 40 Louisville businesses and donors that was upset that Jurich was not interviewed. I think he said the letter was written by Muhammad Ali’s daughter And signed by the 40 donors. I now hope we hire a really good and qualified President and not the idiot who is currently our interim President. However I have no confidence that the most qualified candidate will be hired.

It’s my understanding that its only signed by 3 people; Mark Lynn, Loni Ali and Jim Patterson. 2 of the 3 have UofL facilities with their names on them. But, you were never going to please everyone.

Albeit 3 very prominent Louisville people. What I want to know is will they support Josh Heird and/or continue to support Louisville athletics?

LOL that email grade school level written tone death letter. Is Jurichs representation anyone in that camp .Needs to find another school to support. They did nothing to make Tom's legacy any better embarrassing. So glad we are moving forward either get on the train or get off.

If they listened to Josh's press conference this morning and if they were actually UL fans and not just Tom Jurich fans, I expect they will come back.

Heird has been solid so far. He handled the Mack and Payne situations well. he didn't have much time to breath with the men's bball program in turmoil and fans booing. and with no real University President

simple fact is, he's done nothing controversial. he's been calm, been steady. i don;t want a flashy AD. he's doesn't need a great persona to get donations, he needs great hires. Winning will bring the $, not TJ. and if TJ came back how many donors would then stop donating. makes no sense think TJ would bring in more $ as fake Zipp says above

I hope both KP and Heird are successful only time will tell. Heird didn’t handle the Mack situation that was handled by Tyra.
yes, but it was heird who hired kp, and while seemed to be obvious, he still had to sell it to kp so he did his job. time will tell if the decisions were great, but imho, things weren't fff-ed up, edned up the way most supporters wanted, so thus being uncontroversial is not bad. i want an AD doing the job, not worried about media. so far he's done that, good for him and our alma mater

I know firsthand that Jurich had a huge amount of support, and not just from those who donated large amount of money. Rather than comparing Heird to TJ, as to who was better than the other …… I am fine with either one and encouraged that we had both options. Josh earned this opportunity and I suspect his selection was a way to gain local and National media support.

Lastly, the Selection Committee must have considered how the NCAA might respond negatively if TJ had returned.

LOL that email grade school level written tone death letter...
I'm starting to question the legitimacy of the letter with typos and misspellings. I haven't seen it quoted anywhere in print with those errors. The closest to a credible source for it I heard or read was Mark Ennis on the radio. He's been slurping Josh Heird for awhile.

The style of that "letter" is a good way to discredit the Jurich supporters. It has certainly worked in this space...

Shouldoria.

Well Patterson is putting more money into upgrades into Patterson stadium. the BB facility getting some more upgrades alot of private donors participating in a new NIL collective. Looks like the donors are not TJ or else as some wanted to believe.

And that letter or email reads fine grammatically except for one word usage which was not a typo, maybe a word complete in the software.

I think the version littered with typos is/was a bogus attempt by Jurich detractors.

None of those investments, when they happen, will help U of L's operating finances. Stadium improvements are made with restricted funds, and NIL money doesn't even go to U of L. We need UNrestricted money badly and fast.
It’s funny their are still fans out there that think you don’t need an AD who is a good fund raiser.
You obviously haven't heard that we're turning the corner and that money will quickly reappear. I think the last AD told us that as well. :)

I think like all universities more money is coming from adidas, Nike, etc because of NIL. I still know a couple of heavy hitters who are no longer donating because of some bad decisions that were made.
