Just read on ESPN website that dear ol' Bob wished that all of the administrators who were at IU when he was fired, were dead. Wow!!!

Kooky old fart for sure. He had and still has some anger issues. He was scary back when he was young because of his size. Now he's just an old man who should learn the word humility before some young dude with a bad attitude whips his old ass.

My hatred for the state of Indiana can be summed up with one name. Robert Knight.

So it's now wrong to wish harm on your enemies? LOL. This board is softer than Charmin. :)

FWIW, He did more for that school/state than any administrator. Good for BK. Given em hell.

The old man created those enemies through his own actions. Had he been a better person in the first place, he would have ended his coaching career at IU. He was a bully and he got fired for being a bully. He's lucky that's ALL he got. He easily could have been charged with assault on more than 1 occasion. Anyone remember when he stuffed Dale Brown in a garbage can because Brown said something he didn't like? Anyone remember him grabbing his own player by the throat during practice? How about when he threatened the life of his secretary?

The old man needs to just go away and stay gone. His time has passed.

He also shot someone in the @ss hunting. And I think Reed passed(RIP). None of this changes the good he did for the state and university.

I slightly disagree. The good he did is now tarnished because of the poor decisions he chose to make. Did he do good things? Yes, of course he did, but those things are now overshadowed by his own deamenor as a person. His latest quote is just more proof of what a really bad person he is.

That's only if you buy into the idea of those wrongs and how they got highlighted in the media. With success comes enemies. He had plenty IMO. His latest quote tells me he's still honest and human.

I don't consider him honest with himself. I consider him in denial of his own anger issues. To this day, he doesn't think he was ever wrong and we all know better than that, other than him that is. He is human. That much we can agree on.

The media in Indiana was completely beholden to him. Heck, the main sports writer in Bloomington was one of his closest friends. If anything, the media enabled his boorish behavior. I know it's en vogue to blame anything negative on the "dishonest media" but that is ridiculous, especially in this case.

I thought it was a mistake to get rid of him. If I remember correctly, seems it was in the works for a while. Still not sure what it was that was so terrible. He did go on to coach another 7 years and work for ESPN.

For all his military sounding demeanor, he had no respect for the chain of command. He thought the school and athletic administrators worked for him, not the other way around.

They should have listened to him. They've had a lot of problems with coaches ever since.

Hiring bad coaches after him is mutually exclusive from listening to Knight during his tenure. If an employee openly disregards behavior standards put in place by ones bosses, then that employee needs to be relieved of duties.

Maybe so. But the most recognition they get these days in sports is about an upcoming coached who got sidetracked in mediocrity.

Spare us please. Knight was washed up by the time he was fired. His seasons at T. Tech were nothing to remember, in fact they were subpar. If you think he should be remembered as someone who was the model of integrity, with what we now know about his abusive behavior towards his players and pretty much everyone else he interacted with, well that tells me all that I need to know about you.

... I think for now on I'm gong to refer to you as Charmin.

Unless you were a student or athlete who stood up to him and were assaulted for it.

Yeah, while we're at it. Let's go ahead and forget all the joy and happiness he brought to hundreds of thousands of fans for decades. Or the money and jobs he brought in for those students and athletes. Or the recognition for the sport of basketball. Or the recognition for the state and school. ...

FWIW, I and others (apparently none on this board) thought some of those situations he was provoked and a target.

Excuse me while I go get a lawyer and try to sue my peewee football coaches for assault.

He is the one that has forgotten all the joy that IU brought to him. He could be celebrated instead he is just a pitiful, angry old man.

Joe Paterno brought a lot of joy to fans. Baylor's football program has brought joy and happiness to fans. Should we overlook all the indiscretions that were committed because fans were happy while all of that was going on behind the scenes. Knight may have done good but it doesn't excuse his behavior. My biggest gripe with that whole situation is that all the people acting like it was no big deal for Knight to abuse a player would have been up in arms if one of the players had knocked him out after Knight put his hands on them. He hits them, no problem. If they hit back they'd be thugs and their careers would more than likely have been over. That is BS.

Also he sucked on Espn.

Seriously? Comparing him to Paterno. It was politics. He went on to have a fine career. Can't say the same for IU basketball. They suck compared to when he was running the sidelines. And I agree he sucked on ESPN.

I can't help you with the double standard. It is what it is.

His attitude wasn't the only reason he was fired. IU was going downhill in his final years. They didn't make it past the 2nd round in his final 6 seasons. He is partial responsible for IUs downfall. His career afterward average at best. Txtech made 1 sweet 16 and he lost double digit games all but 1 year in the Big 12 which isn't that deep. IU basketball went into the toilet afterwards because of poor hires but firing him was the right call. He was leading them into the toilet anyhow.

He didn't make the double standard but him taking advantage of it to abuse players makes him responsible and deserving of all the bad that happened to him.

I thought they made it to the national title game with mostly his recruits. Apparently Texas Tech and ESPN didn't think much of those abuse allegations. Which is all they were. ;)

I can't forget BK calling Kyle Kuric's staredown in (2012?) 'dumb and idiotic'; the same man who once threw a chair across a basketball court.

Txtech bball was an irrelevant program that took a swing on a big name coach hoping they'd hit gold. Schools tend to overlook things. Espn doesn't care about morals. Ignoring the way they cover stories and their biases they have done tons of morally objectionable things to hide their on air talent's bad behavior.

BK was a hard-nose physical coach, who taught hard-nose physical basketball, in a hard-nose physical league. And was extremely successful at it. Other people thought they knew better, and they didn't. And they've sucked ever since.

Had BK stayed, they would have added Sean May to that 2002 runner up team.

I don't know about your last sentence, but everything you said is correct. You just choose to ignore that he was abusive, subversive, and inappropriately egotistical.

Your first sentence is correct. The rest is hearsay, allegations and knee jerk reactions that have become commonplace in today's ever decaying society. ;)

His dad played for BK and he was considered a lock. He opened things back up after BK left and went to UNC.

He was placed on probation by his AD which was specifically due to an incident that was on video. He then violated that zero tolerance policy. Those facts aren't heresay.
