UK women go down to Dayton today. Can you imagine the pressure on Jeff if the Cards met UK next week and lost for the
5th straight time ! It would have been a long, long off season.

UofL is clearly the better program, but they do seem to have our number during the regular season. We would have killed them Friday night considering it's tourney time. Deep down, UK fans are thrilled with not having to play us, because they were clearly worried about us during the Dayton game. They have to sick of peaking in December. This was a bridge year for UofL women and yet we still outshine UK during the tournament.

Really? Why would Walz feel pressure after the run he's had at UofL? Losses in December mean nothing. He focuses on the real deal -- which is getting to Final Fours. Thank goodness he's not as obsessed with the team down the road as some of our fans are.

I thought this was going to be a thread saying UConn got knocked out of the tourney. It's only UK; so disappointed.

Some of our posters personify the "little brother" tag way too well...

Yet again, UConn will probably not lose. It boils down to them, then every other team.

True. I actually like the fact that Auriemma and UConn have set such a high bar for others to aspire to. I think ascending to that height is first and foremost in Coach Walz's mind. I think Walz wants to dethrone Geno. He sure is gathering the type of talent to push them hard.

Very true Zipp, probably nice people...just wrapped up in a strange and ugly vantage point or prism to see our success through.

OP is right. Walz knows the importance of beating UK even in womens and he is a junkyard dog competitor that would fight tooth and nail in a pick up game that nobody was watching. So glad they are out of that bad situation that NCAA put them in for $. That is probably more of a relief than UK losing for now.

Third time to the round of 16 in a row. #1 recruiting class coming in next year. Walz is handling the 'pressure' just fine.

He is a really good coach. Women's basketball is really controlled by the traditional powers but he has found a way to succeed with good players. He is just now starting to get the elite talent at multiple spots. UCONN! Is still the gold standard and will be until Geno leaves but Waltz could be the next Geno. One thing we know about Louisville they love good basketball Louisville's attendance will continue to increase.

Is there ever truly "big time pressure" on a women's college basketball coach? It's women's basketball for heaven's sake! I doubt more than about 100 people really truly care.

Last year the men's championship had 21M viewers. The women's championship had 4M. And this year's men's selection show had 5.5M viewers while the women's had 900k.

For the 2014 season, almost 9,500 "truly caring" fans per game attended UofL women's basketball games. Last I heard, UofL pays Jeff Walz $775K/year to coach the game nobody cares about. Wake up and join the fan base.

Meh to each their own. Women's basketball is awful. Nobody can truly enjoy watching that abortion.

Any analogy or comparison using "abortion" is usually not a good one.
