Big Game From Jaylen

I agree with the OP. JJ had a terrific game but that air ball free throw was a palm to the forehead moment.

well, to be fair...I thought he broke that arm 2 minutes before the FT...I'll take a sore wrist air ball over 6 wks in a cast any day.
Good point, and he did shake out his arm like it was bothering him after the air ball. I am thrilled he wasn't more seriously injured too.

He hit the three to start the 8-0 run to get it tied at 20 all.

He has been maligned by Cards fans lately, so he proved why he starts.

Chinanu on the bench. No problem JJ is here!
He had another wide open opportunity for a three, but passed up on it. Pitino then yelled at him.......to take the shot.

I am glad to see he is starting to find himself in the offense. For the first several weeks since the start of the season, he was looking lost. If he finally gets it, that will take pressure off of Nanu by giving us another inside presence. Clearly, he had the potential; he is starting to realize it.

He seems to know the offense a little better than Mahmoud or Spaulding at this point. If you notice our first pass in the half court is usually set up by a JJ screen so he doesn't seem to have the same issues as our other bigs with setting a moving pick. I just wish he would become more aggressive as CRP has mentioned. I thought Mahmoud had figured it out against Florida St. Maybe now it's a start for JJ.

The front court guys in basketball tend to take a few years to develop. In general, I keep my expectations low for the big guys early on. The fact that we are getting good contributions from our big guys in their 2nd year is very hopeful and a pleasant surprise. Our front court looks to be fine for the next 2-3 years.
