Betting lines on the Sweet 16 games

I'm seeing several sites with us at -2.

That's a heck of a spread if someone could take Louisville getting 2.5 then also take NC St getting 2...you win both bets if either team wins by 1 or NC St wins by 2. Over two and you pay the juice on one bet but that's not a bad risk to double up on both. The NC St -2.5 has to be a misprint, I can't imagine the line already moving that much.

Good.
I am seeing UL favored by 2.5
Look again. They have a +13 next to WVU's name, so I'm assuming the number next to the teams to the right means they either the favorite or underdog. I mean there's no way UK is a 13 point underdog to WVU. Am I looking at it wrong?

Cue the + teams are the underdog. Here are the current Vegas lines for the sweet 16 and yes Kentucky is a 13 1/2 point favorite over West Virginia and Louisville is a 2 1/2 point favorite over NC State. Kentucky - 13 1/2 and Louisville - 2 1/2.

The rest as of 1 pm Mon:

Wichita St -1 over Notre Dame

Arizona -11 over Xavier

Wisconsin -5 1/2 over No Carolina

Michigan St. -2 over Oklahoma

Gonzaga -8 1/2 over UCLA

Duke -5 over Utah

It's confusing to me. This is what they have on that CBS site I linked

Midwest Region -- Cleveland (Thursday)
No. 3 Wichita State (-1)
No. 1 West Virginia (+13.5)
West Region -- Los Angeles (Thursday)
No. 1 North Carolina (+5)
No. 2 Xavier (+11)
South Region -- Houston (Friday)
No. 2 UCLA (+9.5)
No. 1 Utah (+4.5)
East Region -- Syracuse (Friday)
No. 4 NC State (-2.5)
No. 3 Michigan State (-2)

That sure looks to me like they're saying NC State is the 2 1/2 point favorite to me.

It DOES say that NC State is a favored over Louisville on there. It's either a misprint or the line has moved. Most likely a misprint because that's a 5 point movement which is a lot. Either way currently Louisville is a 2 1/2 point favorite.

Well that's a bummer. I was kind of hoping the Cards would be the underdogs. We seem to embrace that role better as a team. Oh well, 4 more wins and we shock the college basketball world.

Just curious, but what criteria does ESPN use to say we have a 65% chance of advancing against NCSU? Btw, if you find the betting line confusing to read, subtract or add that number indicated to or from the final score and that equals the spread. Ties lose.

I'm all in on Oklahoma too. Also will probably take a position on UNC and UCLA.

Wouldn't touch the UK or Duke games with a 10 foot pole.

ESPN has teamed up Nate Silver for predictive analytics.
Pretty cool, but it means about as much as betting lines.... NOTHING.

The teams still need to play, and win.

I'm to lazy to check, but it seemed to me that NC State had a lot of time to prepare for the game and we did not.

Nope. Both had the same amount of time to prepare for each other. The only difference is UofL had a road game prior to playing NC State in the YUM, and they had a home game prior to visiting UofL.

Look guys, there's no way to even consider sugar coating this one. NC State is a really bad match up for the Cards, and this game is ALL about match ups. Coach Pitino will have to come up with some magic to pull this one off IMO. They have as good or better guards, and I know across the front line they're more talented. Our only saving grace is we have a hall of fame coach leading the program. They have a really good assistant coach in Bobby Lutz, and the head coach is good but he's no Rick Pitino.

Both teams played games 3 days prior to their game against each other on Feb 14th. NC State lost at home to Virginia on Feb 11th and Louisville won at home over Pittsburgh Feb 11th.

Cue Card touch on something. Bobby Lutz who was the head coach at Charlotte used to give up fits when we were in the same conference. I almost say that he was close to being 50-50 against the Cards.

I don't understand why Lutz never became a high profile D1 head coach. The man is an outstanding coach, and yes he gave the Cardinals all kinds of trouble when he was the head coach at Charlotte.

As we all know CRP is 11-1 in Sweet 16 appearances and had the cats on the ropes in last year's tourny to get to 12-0...oh what could have been...I digress.

If we were a 10 pt. dog I be sweating, but we're not and far from it. All that said this one is gonna be tough.

Go Cards!

Give me UL -2.5, WVU +13.5, Notre Dame +1, Xavier +11, Wisky -5.5(would take UNC if Meeks was playing), OU +2, Zags -8.5, and Duke -5.
