LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville baseball program was ranked fifth in D1Baseball's ranking of the top 100 collegiate baseball programs.

D1Baseball, which compiles the rankings every two years, had the Cardinals ranked sixth on their inaugural list in 2015 and again in 2017.

The rankings awarded programs points for making regionals and having postseason success in the last five years, and a fewer amount of points for success between six and 10 years ago. Adjustments were then made for coaching staff quality and stability, facilities, scholarship/financial aid situation, conference dynamics, momentum, and recruiting and player development proficiency.

Louisville was the top program from the ACC, coming in behind only Florida, Vanderbilt, Arkansas and LSU. Oregon State, Florida State, Mississippi State, Texas Tech and TCU came in at No. 6-10, respectively.

The Cardinals have compiled 605 wins in Dan McDonnell's 13 seasons at the helm, the most in the country during the timespan. Louisville has reached the postseason in 12 of the 13 years, making eight Super Regional appearances and five College World Series appearances. UofL has also won 10 conference championships under McDonnell, including four in its five seasons as a member of the ACC.

Louisville entered the fall coming off its fifth NCAA College World Series appearance in 2019. The Cardinals finished the season 51-18 overall and made their deepest postseason run in program history, reaching the bracket final in Omaha.
