Probably not,but the passing...
Point being,I grew tired of watching our post players and wings forget that it's better to give than to receive.![]()
Spot on. It particularly hurts my heart watch kids now making post entry passes and throwing the ball right into the defender.Passing is the most underated-skill in Basketball. I loved to watch Magic Johnson play.
He made everyone on the court with him a better player.
We had no one on our team that I would consider a good passer(possible exception is Levitch). Couple that with this team did not have very good ball handling skills in general and that's why our offense primarily revolved around offensive rebounding..
Snider took good care of the ball, so his assist to turnover ratio was really solid. Does that mean he passed well? Maybe. We had no one on our team that I would consider a good passer(possible exception is Levitch).
Hard to remember any.Siva was one of those guys that got it done by breaking down the defense thru the hi pick-n-roll.It worked, but nobody's run it right since. The offense has to be fluid with its passing, seamless and second nature.Which UofL teams of recent years have had good ball movement in your opinion? I know this team lacked consistent and intelligent ball movement. They would apply it at times and then completely abandon it later on. Frustrating to watch among other things this season.
I really believe the inside out kick starts everything, but it has to be someone like Mahmoud, that really understands the game and what the team is trying to do.Passing is the most underated-skill in Basketball. I loved to watch Magic Johnson play.

And....when you've got players that are much better catch-n-shoot guys,it makes the case even stronger. In most of the games I watched last night, the team passing seems to be more fluid whether it's around the perimeter or inside/out. I am tired of watching our dribble handouts beyond the 3 point line. I have always heard that you can move the ball around faster by passing than by dribbling.
I agree with your bettpassingSpot on. It particularly hurts my heart watch kids now making post entry passes and throwing the ball right into the defender.
I think that's a good deal of why Bam has been looking better as of late for us. They are throwing passes away from the defender or *gasp* leading him TO the goal with the pass
It is a two way street. They are making better entry passes and he is doing a better job of presenting himself as a target. Someone is doing some VG individual coaching with them.Spot on. And Ncaacard touched on it as well.If you're built to have a team of slashers,ok dribble it.If not, move the ball and stay ahead of the defense.Passing is always faster than dribbling
I think some of this true but not sure if it is fair just to single out Adel. I do believe this team suffered from "me first" syndrome, even DM and Q at times. Our bigs didn't seem to want to kick the ball back out once an entry pass and always tried to score instead of working and reposting for a better shot. The thing you mentioned about Adel and VJ must have been a rare occasion because in most cases, VJ came in for Adel.Lack of chemistry and selfish plays plagued this team all season. I have always felt that Adel does very little to make his teammates better even though he gets the ball a lot during a game. Now that he's declared for the draft, it's obvious to me that on some level he was out to impress the scouts at times more than trying to win the game. During our loss to Michigan, in the second half, I thought it was strange the he kept waving his hands for the ball despite already missing several jump shots and 3-pointers. The few times that I see both Adel and VJ on the floor together, I rarely see Adel passing to an open VJ. You could say that the reason we can't close out games is because some of the players were looking out for themselves and not passing to certain open teammates one we have a lead. I'm not sure the chemistry will improve next year even if everyone on this team come back. Just a thought.
I agree with your bettpassing

Back to the OP....... Passing is always faster than dribbling. Great passing teams often offset a team with more individual talent. Devil he may be to most here, Rupp's teams were known for their passing. The ball seldom touched the floor. The great Celtic teams of the 50's and 60's were among the greatest passing teams of all time. The Lakers and generally the Sixers always had more individual talent, but the Celtics always got the ring.
I agree with you on Rupp but you shortchanged Bill Russell. He was also a great passer. You are reading history, I witnessed it. Russ, Wes, and Walton were the best passing big men that I ever sawRupp's team were known for their passing and shooting.....and outscored many a team because of it.
The Celtics had Bill Russell, a great defender and ultimate team player and usually always the best talent on the floor. He dominated as a team first player only could. One of the top 3 centers to ever play the game on any level.

Amen! It is difficult to gauge another's true opinion or express your own, especially mine, on a message board. Best done in person. I am certain we share a lot of similar memories.I was born in 53...l witnessed it too. No where in my post did I short change Russell.
And I would agree about him and Wes....not a fan of Walton....he was a crybaby on the college level.....would whine about most every foul ever called on him....but he did dominate in the paint in college. Bad knees and foot injuries diminished his Pro career. Now he is just a flake....to much S, Cal sunshine or dru.s or smoking the whacky tobacky. So different strokes for different folks.
