At All Costs

AAU basketball should be shut down. Most NCAA violations get their start in AAU, where a lot of $$$$$$ is passed under the table. NCAA should ban coaches from attending AAU events, and even talking with AAU coaches in the recruiting process. This would not cure all problems , but it would be a good start.

Agree. I think it may be easier said than done though. At a minimum, they should remove the shoe companies as sponsors. Just completely do away with AAU ball and end one and done? Sounds good but will that completely fix the problem? I agree about the coaches attending these events as well.

The documentary does a good job of highlighting some of the issues around recruiting. The handlers, agents, coaches... Everyone is in it for themselves. Something has to give and if it takes this week to put some guardrails up around it... that could be a good thing. A shame it took an FBI investigation and included Louisville.

This week should have come as no surprise to anyone that is aware of what the AAU scene and high stakes recruiting looks like. The biggest surprise to me is that we/Louisville got caught up in it when you know or at least suspect that other programs are doing things like it or similar to this in some form or fashion. Everyone knows it. The real question is, how is it being disguised? Can or will it be uncovered? Has Louisville done this with other players?

Is it possible these other schools are just better at disguising it? Have they just not been caught yet?

We may soon find out. This week at minimum should raise more questions as attempts are made to find answers or solutions to this complex problem. You have to think this week will have some impact on CBB recruiting, but to what extent....

No recruit should have a handler or agent. all recruiting should be done thru player's high school coach or parents. any recruit with a handler or agent should be ineligible for college sports.
