Yes, there's still a chance we could win the ACC Championship and earn a bye in the playoffs lol.
(Note: this is not a post to convince some of you miserable, negative nellies that there is a legit chance for our team reach your season expectations, but it is a post to share with positive minded fans what scenarios would have to occur for us to still make the ACC title game despite our two losses).
Here is a Scenario:
1) Obviously we win our remaining 3 conference games against Clemson, Pitt & Stanford
2) Pitt beats SMU next week, then loses to Clemson the following week
3) Clemson also loses @Va Tech
4) SMU also loses to either Cal, BC or Virginia
5) Va Tech stumbles @Cuse or @Duke or at home to state rival Virginia
If all of this were to happen, there would be a 5-way tie at 6-2 with us, Clemson, SMU, Va Tech & Pitt. We would win that tiebreaker and advance to title game with Miami.
I know, very remote chance. But point being, there IS still one.
This scenario starts this coming week with our Triple Play:
1 - Beat Clemson
2 - Pitt beats SMU
3 - Va Tech loses @Syracuse (this is not necessary, but would give Tech their 2nd loss)
