What was up with that guy? 3rd quarter punt and he goes crazy throwing punches. I saw nothing that provoked it? I did admire Dabo tossing him ASAP. He was escorted to the locker room before the refs even reviewed the replay.

Their fans that were sitting around us actually apologized for his actions. And again on the elevators on the way to the ground level. There was some shoving and pulling between the two players but nothing that would create that situation. Just normal football stuff. You would have thought that our player insulted his mother or something.

GO CARDS - BEAT EVERYBODY!!! God Bless America!!!

It wouldn't surprise me if they shut him down for the year. I bet he gets more than 1 game.

Yeah I can't call the kid a thug. I can say he lost his cool and paid the price. Like Kerry said, he got overly excited and it was most likely due to testosterone and lots of trash talk that got in his head. Dabo is a classy coach and is using this incident to teach the kid a life lesson. Hats off to coach Dabo.

During the handshake at the end of the game Dabo apologized to Coach Satterfield and said the player would be riding the bus home. As others have said, Coach Sweeney handled the situation very well.

He is not a thug.
A thug is a criminal.

He lost his cool.
Adrenaline, testosterone.

He's not the 1st wont be the last.
Im betting he'll be suspended next game and do tons of stairs.
Agree 100%.

Guys. If you only knew what goes on in practice and in between plays you’d be calling lots of players thugs. Including some household UL names. In this instance I’d say he’s more ignorant than thuggish. At least try to rip the helmet off first before throwing a punch. I actually had this happen to me in a big time Friday night lights game in high school. You’re only going to injure your hand more than anything.

Okay, I will retract the Thug part. How about Jerk, Dumb Ass or just Stupid. It was so uncalled for and made no sense at the time.

When that adrenaline flowa, people do alot of things they shouldn't.

Agreed, but it happens so much.

It happens in all sports. Look at hockey, they let them fight.

Coach Sweeny wasn't joking. The kid actually had to ride the bus back home while his teammates got to fly home.

Great life lesson taught by a classy coach. Wish we saw more of this type of discipline when discipline is needed.
Schnell was a lot like that, even moreso. Wonder how Petrino would have handled it.

I’m guilty. My coach made me walk the opposing player’s helmet and give It back to him on the other side of the field. ;-) The guy was actually a future Card.

When I played football (ran track and cross country as a sophmore in high school and never looked back after that), our coach always taught us to lay your opponent on his butt the best you can, but when you're getting up, you put your hand out to help your opponent off the ground as well.

I've ALWAYS been impressed to this day, well over 30 years later, when I see an opposing football player help his oppoenent off the ground by putting his hand out when he has the chance to do so. Tells me a lot about the player without knowing him.

That was a full mount/ground and pound that Conor McGreggor would have appreciated, that kid needs to get in an MMA gym where he can better utilize his talents.

We called that respect. Never burned bridges in high school. You never know when one or two will end up teammates in college or business colleagues later in life.

read the article about what the player did after, he was completely remorseful and apologetic, apologized to the coach, the team and their AD. at least he understands what he did. and article says not his character and seems to be a one off event. but time will tell

Hope his hand is ok.

7 -8 hour bus ride instead of 1 1/2 hour flight. Kid got the lesson. I like Dabo, think he's a little fake at times but now I think it was that he didn't like cbp but he really likes CSS! Hell, that makes him one of us!

Wonder how Stoopes would have handled the situation?

As a Clemson fan at the game first you Cardinal fans were awesome. Never have we been welcomed and treated so well. I apologized to several of you on the way out. What Booth did is not indicative of our program our coach administration or fans. We were disappointed in his actions. Until 2021 enjoy coach Satterfield and what he’s building and for the rest of the year, win em all. Classy bunch of Cards!

Stupes would have railed at the officials for making a call against his player who actually was a victim of targeting when the opposing player hit his fist with his helmut.

Stoops has been middle-of-the-road in some of the discipline he’s handed out from what I’ve seen. For whatever reason, he’s kept their prized transfer Xavier Peters out of every game due to team rules.

FWIW, any coach any America that stands by a player fist fighting during a game for any reason is ignorant. Dabo was all over it and enforced before the ref could even review the video.

I’m surprised there’s not more incidents with the UL UK games. Bad blood for sure. We never got our chance, but here’s hoping we put them in their place this year!! At the start of the season I’m sure they had a “W” written in. Better hope it’s not a permanent marker.

They have started crap with us 3 of the 6 years Stumps has been there. Morons.

SuCkS is looking for an excuse to get the series dropped.

Those back to back losses with a 5-6 to UofL devastated them.

Let them run after UofL takes the all time lead.

S Carolina doesnt want to end their arch rivalry game, despite Clemson dominating.

They man up, unlike the cowards in Lexghanistan.

I remember just a few years ago sUcK came out before the game and had their players who weren’t dressed for the game try to start fights to get certain Louisville players banned from the game. It was later found out that Stoops was the one who planned it.

See Jordan Jones example when he played UofL a few years back. 3 personal fouls and still put the idiot back in.
I thought two personal fouls earned you dismissal from the game. How was he sent back in to the game to pick up a third?

He encourages that type of play. He’s proven that more once

I mis-spoke, he had 2 personal fouls and 1 unsportsmanlike conduct. I believe, the rule is 2 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties equals an ejection. Either way, how does a coach put a player like that back in the game?!?!

It's football.
Fights and people going nuts with aggression happens. Probably roids.
Spare us your moral outrage.

You seem to have quite a low bar for what constitutes “moral outrage”. And FWIW - you typically don’t see many DBs on steroids.
