while taking his only official visit on a crisp autumn game day, his future team was down and all but out of the game.

It's been described by him, that at the half, he calmly stepped up onto a locker room chair and gave a rebel-rousing speech, ending it with "let's win one for the Gipper!"...and they did...and it was good.

That's what elevated his scholarship.

Later in his career it's been told by him that he caught an "immaculate reception" which lead to a timely score but it just wasn't enough. Crazy, when you consider he was born without a right hand and his right foot had no toes.

With seconds to spare, his team called on BMW (his nickname, which was later used by a German auto maker) one last time. "Try and put one through the uprights for the win" they cried. The sun had been in his eyes the whole game but it was just another 63 yarder into the wind for Brian. He endeavored to persevere.

They later made a football movie about him and some of his jailhouse antics, "The Longest Yard," "you may have seen it," he said.. He even dyed his hair black for the starring role...and it was good.

And our grey shirt proposal was the best offer that whiny @ss newsman had. Who cares that he won a Pulitzer as a senior in high school, not a single one of Big Three networks have made an offer yet. Damn Pre-Madonna.

FYI-

Hopefully, my attempt to reference some pretty cool old school football stuff (both fact and fiction) didn't fall entirely through the cracks.

"Crazy, when you consider he was born without a right hand and his right foot had no toes."

All hail Tom Dempsey...
