All Systems Failure

I'm proud of these guys for fighting back from down 21-0. Especially compared to how last year's team regularly performed after getting down. On the road with a backup QB, and a lead and the ball in the 4th quarter... It didn't go our way but I think we are on the right track for the future.

Obviously glad they fought back. Penalty on a kick return for td. Two drive killing penalties on 3rd and 1. Penalty on a fsu FG that sealed their defeat. Penalties.

I have a question about the Roughing the kicker call which was the final nail.

Nobody on our side griped about it but unless the rule is different in college, it looked like running into the kicker to me. In the pros, you have to either have to take a cheap shot to the kicker or hit his plant leg. Our guy did neither. He brushed his kicking leg after the kick as he followed through. Probably wouldn’t have made any difference but I thought it was the wrong call.

I was wondering the same thing.

The vibe is different and this staff gets it. The fourth quarter was like last year. Driving to ice the game then multiple mental errors cost them the opportunity to win the game.

2nd and 2 running back runs the wrong way.
3rd and 6 bad pass interception, you can’t miss high it that situation.
Blown coverage with the same play call as the play before.
Fumbled snap on next offensive series.
Roughing the kicker.

That is a bunch of losing plays in a really short period of time. None of which FSU created all self inflicted. They continue to be sloppy. That will take time because that is strictly mental breakdowns.

The good news is they are physically competing. They physically took control of the game. The physical mentality happened faster than I thought. The losing mentality is next of the list.

The refs had to think the kicker was at risk for injury. According to Article 16 #8 - when it is questionable between roughing the kicker or running into the kicker, it is ruled roughing.

Some of the problems from prior season were still going to be there this year.

Was first true road game even if it was a sparse crowd.

Hopefully the team learns from the things that went wrong, we'll find out how they respond.

I never saw the replay of the block in the back on the kickoff returned for a TD. Did it actually affect the play?

Not happy about the loss, but was happy with the determination to get back in the game.

It is a rebuilding process, and this team hasn't figured out how to win a road game just yet. They will with time and more talent. Satterfield has the program heading in the right direction.

I didn't see it either, not saying it did or didn't happen... was hoping for the replay I'm with you...and I was really hoping they'd show it. It was a game changer I think.

Last year’s team would have lost by at least 45 or 50 to 0. Pretty simple, These kids care but they still have some leftover “between the ear’s issues”. CSS and staff will eventually get that solved.

Driving for a TD up 3 points with a chance to break their spirit and let Malik throw the ball down the middle of the field. We just lost to the only team worse than us in the ACC.

Literally no one has FSU in the basement. And for that matter they don’t have us there anymore. That’s GT, UNC, and the CUSE is diving fast. Their our basement dwellers.

We are not going to make some miraculous turn around. That can happen in BB, but rarely if ever in FB. FSU is far and away more talented then we are and you see their struggles. Coaching, recruiting, and time that’s the medicine for our issues. If we go to a bowl next year that would be fantastic. If we somehow did it this year that would be a miracle.

I agree. What we saw yesterday was talent winning out. FSU simply has more talent. I have ZERO doubt the Cards have better coaches than FSU though. That's why it was as good a game as it was. We have limited talent and great coaching. FSU has great talent and limited coaching. Talent won out. It's that simple in my opinion.

The radio team said the block in the back call that negated the 101 yard KO return was called by an official on the opposite side of the field. As a former official, thats bad . You just showed up another official. Bet words were exchanged at halftime over that. Officials have to trust teammates as much as players do.

That also means that the “official on the opposite side or the field” had FSU coaches in his ear. It could very well mean that they made the call and the “offending” official caved and threw his flag. I never saw a replay that showed any illegal blocks. Perhaps others did see the replay, but I didn’t.

I taped the game.. Was a bad call. Official who called it was 20 yards down field. Our blocker was set up and our runner made a cut and defender ran into our blocker. Besides distance the official had a bad angle.

Yeah I was actually really surprised there was no replay so I actually replayed it myself a few times and I’m gonna tell ya, it was a really questionable call. Dawkins didn’t really keep the guy from making a tackle but he did put his hands on his back but immediately put his hands up as to say he was innocent. What surprised me was how long it took to actually throw the flag and where it came from, the ref closest to the play did not throw the flag, ref was on other side of field. That was a killer.
